5. Installation and Setup
Before starting, ensure your workspace is clean and free of static electricity. Wear an anti-static wrist strap if available. Handle components by their edges to avoid touching sensitive parts.
5.1. CPU Installation
- Locate the LGA 2011 CPU socket on the motherboard.
- Open the CPU socket retention mechanism by pushing down and out on the two levers.
- Carefully align the Intel Xeon E5-2689 CPU with the socket, matching the golden triangle on the CPU to the triangle on the socket. Do not force the CPU into place.
- Close the retention mechanism by pushing the levers back into their locked position.
- Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the top of the CPU.
- Install the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions, ensuring it is securely fastened and making good contact with the CPU.

5.2. RAM Installation
- Locate the four DDR3 DIMM slots. For dual-channel operation, install memory modules in matching colored slots (e.g., both red slots or both black slots).
- Open the clips at both ends of the DIMM slot.
- Align the memory module with the slot, ensuring the notch on the module matches the key in the slot.
- Press down firmly on both ends of the memory module until the clips snap into place.
5.3. M.2 SSD Installation
- Locate the M.2 slot on the motherboard.
- If necessary, adjust the DIP switch near the M.2 slot to select between NVMe and NGFF (SATA) mode, depending on your M.2 SSD type.
- Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot at a slight angle.
- Push down the SSD and secure it with the provided screw.
5.4. Graphics Card (PCIe) Installation
- Locate the PCIe 3.0 X16 slot.
- Remove the corresponding expansion slot cover from your PC case.
- Align your graphics card with the slot and press down firmly until it is seated. The retention clip at the end of the slot should snap into place.
- Secure the graphics card to the case with a screw.
- Connect any necessary PCIe power cables from your power supply to the graphics card.
5.5. Power Connections
- Connect the 24-pin ATX power cable from your power supply to the 24-pin connector on the motherboard.
- Connect the 8-pin ATX12V power cable from your power supply to the 8-pin CPU power connector on the motherboard.
- Connect SATA power cables from your power supply to your SATA storage devices.
5.6. Front Panel & I/O Connections
- Connect the front panel cables (Power SW, Reset SW, HDD LED, Power LED) to the JFP1 header on the motherboard, referring to the detailed motherboard diagram (Figure 4.1) for correct pin assignments.
- Connect front panel USB cables to the internal USB 2.0 headers.
- Connect the front panel audio cable to the JAUDIO1 header.
- Connect your monitor to the graphics card (if installed) or integrated graphics port (if applicable).
