Setup Guide
1. Initial Charging
Before first use, ensure your FreeBuds 7i and their charging case are fully charged. Connect the charging case to a USB Type-C power source (5V/2A recommended) using a compatible cable. The indicator light on the case will show charging status.
2. Selecting Ear Tips
Choose the ear tips that provide the best seal and comfort for your ears. A good seal is crucial for optimal sound quality and effective noise cancellation. Four sizes (XS, S, M, L) are provided. Medium tips are pre-installed.

3. Pairing with a Device
- Place both earbuds into the charging case and leave the lid open.
- Press and hold the function button on the charging case until the indicator light flashes white. This puts the earbuds into pairing mode.
- On your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), go to Bluetooth settings and search for available devices.
- Select "Huawei FreeBuds 7i" from the list to connect.
The FreeBuds 7i support dual-device connection, allowing seamless switching between two paired devices. For Huawei devices running HarmonyOS 2.0 or later, multi-device connection is supported for enhanced integration.

Operating Instructions
Touch Controls
The FreeBuds 7i feature intuitive touch controls on the earbud stems. The following interactions are supported:
- Tap: Single, double, or triple taps can be customized for playback control (play/pause, next/previous track), answering/ending calls, or activating voice assistant.
- Slide: Sliding up or down the earbud stem can control volume.
- Pinch: Pinching the stem can activate/deactivate Active Noise Cancellation or switch between ANC modes.
- Long Press: Holding down on the stem can be customized for various functions, such as rejecting calls or switching ANC modes.
You can customize these gestures using the Huawei AI Life app (requires a Huawei phone/tablet running EMUI 11 or HarmonyOS 2.0 or later for full smart listening features).
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
The FreeBuds 7i utilize Intelligent Dynamic Noise Cancellation 4.0 to adapt to your environment. You can switch between different ANC modes (e.g., Noise Cancelling, Awareness, Off) via the touch controls or the AI Life app.
Call Functions
Each earbud is equipped with three silicon microphones and one bone conduction microphone, combined with a Deep Neural Network (DNN) algorithm, to provide clear call quality and effective call noise cancellation.
Wear Detection
The earbuds automatically detect when they are in your ears. Music playback can pause when an earbud is removed and resume when re-inserted.

Maintenance and Care
Cleaning
- Regularly clean the earbuds, especially the ear tips and speaker mesh, with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
- Remove ear tips and clean them with mild soap and water if necessary, ensuring they are completely dry before reattaching.
- Clean the charging contacts on both the earbuds and inside the charging case with a dry cotton swab.
- Wipe the charging case with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
Battery Care
- Charge the device using a USB Type-C 5V/2A power adapter.
- Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently, as this can reduce its lifespan.
- If storing the earbuds for an extended period, charge them to about 50% every few months to prevent deep discharge.
Storage
- Always store the earbuds in their charging case when not in use to protect them and keep them charged.
- Keep the device in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
Troubleshooting
Earbuds not pairing or connecting
- Ensure both earbuds are in the charging case and the case has sufficient battery.
- Open the charging case lid and press the function button until the indicator flashes white to enter pairing mode.
- Turn off and on Bluetooth on your device.
- Try forgetting the device in your Bluetooth settings and re-pairing.
- Perform a factory reset (refer to the Quick Guide for specific steps).
No sound or low volume
- Check the volume levels on both your device and the earbuds.
- Ensure the earbuds are properly seated in your ears and the ear tips provide a good seal.
- Clean the speaker mesh and ear tips to remove any obstructions.
- Reconnect the earbuds to your device.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) not effective
- Ensure the ear tips provide a tight seal in your ear canal. Try different sizes.
- Check that ANC is activated and set to the appropriate mode (e.g., 'Noise Cancelling' mode for maximum effect).
- Ensure the microphones on the earbuds are clean and unobstructed.
Charging issues
- Verify the USB Type-C cable and power adapter are working correctly.
- Ensure the charging contacts on both the earbuds and the case are clean and free of debris.
- Check if the charging case itself has power.
User Tips
- For the best audio experience and to utilize all smart features, download the Huawei AI Life app on your compatible Huawei device.
- Experiment with all four ear tip sizes to find the perfect fit for comfort and sound isolation. A snug fit significantly improves ANC performance and bass response.
- Regularly update the firmware of your FreeBuds 7i via the AI Life app to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.
- When switching between devices, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both and select the FreeBuds 7i from the desired device's Bluetooth menu.
