4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Choosing the Suitable Wheel Size
Before installation, ensure you select the correct wheel size for your bicycle. The kit supports 20/26/27.5/700C (28/29) inch wheels. To determine your tire size, locate the marking on your tire sidewall (e.g., 26x1.95). This indicates a 26-inch tire.

Figure 4: How to Choose Suitable Wheel Size
4.2 Brake Type Compatibility
The Varstrom-125XVH hub motor is compatible with both Disc Brake and V-Brake systems. Ensure your bicycle's rear dropout spacing is 135-145mm for proper fitment.
- If your bike has a mechanical brake system, you can choose our Brake Lever option.
- If your bike has a hydraulic brake system, you should choose our Brake Sensor option. The Brake Sensor can also be used with mechanical brakes if you prefer not to change your existing brake levers.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your e-bike conversion kit.
- Motor: The motor features advanced helical gearing for superior wear resistance and a longer lifespan. Keep the motor clean and free from debris. While the motor is IPX5 waterproof, it is not recommended for prolonged heavy rain exposure.
- Battery: Always use the provided charger. Store the battery in a cool, dry place. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing for an extended period, charge it to about 50-60%.
- Connections: Periodically check all electrical connections (especially the 1T4 cable and motor connections) to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Brakes: Regularly inspect your brake pads and rotors/rims for wear. Ensure brake levers/sensors are functioning correctly.
- Tires: Maintain proper tire pressure as recommended by your bicycle manufacturer.
- General Cleaning: Clean your e-bike regularly with a damp cloth. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.
7. Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:
- No Power to Display/Motor:
- Check if the battery is charged and turned ON.
- Ensure all electrical connections, especially the 1T4 cable, are firmly seated.
- Inspect the main power cable from the battery to the controller for any visible damage.
- Motor Not Assisting:
- Verify the PAS sensor is correctly installed and the magnet is aligned.
- Check if the throttle is functioning (if installed).
- Ensure the display is not showing any error codes. Consult the display manual for specific error code meanings.
- Confirm the brake levers/sensors are not engaged, as they cut motor power.
- Intermittent Power:
- Loose connections are a common cause. Re-check all plugs.
- Inspect wiring for any cuts or pinches.
- Unusual Noises from Motor:
- While the helical gears are designed for quiet operation, excessive noise might indicate an issue. Ensure the motor is securely mounted and nothing is rubbing against it.
- If noise persists, contact support.
If you encounter issues not listed here or cannot resolve a problem, please contact customer support for assistance.
8. User Tips
- Daily Commuters: The high efficiency and robust design make this kit ideal for daily commutes. Ensure your battery is fully charged for longer trips.
- Delivery Professionals: The powerful motor and durable helical gears are well-suited for high-intensity use, such as food delivery. Regular checks of connections and tire pressure are recommended due to frequent use.
- Hill Climbing: Users have noted the excellent torque for tackling hills. Utilize the PAS levels to manage your effort and battery consumption effectively.
