4. Safety Information

WARNING: Laser radiation can cause severe eye injury and skin burns. Always follow safety precautions.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate laser safety glasses (OD 6+ for 1080nm wavelength) and protective gloves during operation.
  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the machine is properly grounded. Do not operate with wet hands or in damp conditions. Verify the power supply matches the machine's requirements (AC220V±10%, 60Hz).
  • Work Area: Operate the machine in a well-ventilated area. Keep flammable materials away from the laser path. Ensure the work area is clear of unauthorized personnel.

5. Setup

Before operating the machine, ensure all components are correctly assembled and connected.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully unpack all components listed in the package contents.
  2. Placement: Position the main laser unit on a stable, level surface in a well-ventilated area. The machine is equipped with universal wheels for flexible movement.
  3. Water Chiller Setup: Fill the industrial water chiller with 14-15L of deionized, distilled, or purified water. Connect the water inlet and outlet hoses between the laser unit and the chiller.
  4. Power Connection: Connect the machine to a stable AC220V±10%, 60Hz power supply. Ensure proper grounding.
  5. Laser Welding Gun Connection: Connect the Raytools BW101 welding gun to the main unit.
  6. Wire Feeder Setup: Install the wire feed rolls and thread the wire through the laser wire feeder and into the wire feeding tube, leading to the welding gun.
  7. Air Feed Pipe: Connect the air feed pipe if required for specific applications (e.g., cutting with assist gas).
  8. Protective Lenses & Nozzles: Ensure a protective lens is installed in the welding gun and select the appropriate wire nozzle for your application.

6. Operating Instructions

This machine supports welding, cutting, and cleaning functions. Always wear protective glasses and gloves during operation.

  1. Power On: Turn on the main power switch. The LED smart display will illuminate.
  2. System Initialization: Allow the system to initialize. Check the water chiller for proper operation and temperature.
  3. Function Selection: Use the high-quality touch screen interface to select the desired function: Welding, Cutting, or Cleaning.
  4. Parameter Adjustment: Adjust parameters such as laser power (10%-100% adjustment range), scan width (10-160mm), scan speed (0-120 mm/s for welding), duty cycle, and frequency as needed for your specific material and task. The machine supports 24 national languages for ease of use.
  5. Workpiece Preparation: Ensure the workpiece is clean, stable, and properly positioned.
  6. Operation: Hold the handheld laser gun firmly. Activate the laser according to the selected function and carefully guide the gun along the desired path.
  7. Welding: Supports vertical welding, parallel welding, and stitch welding on materials like stainless steel, aluminum, copper, chromium, nickel, titanium, and other alloys. Welding thickness can range from 0.5-3mm with a welding gap of ≤0.5mm.
  8. Cutting: Perform precise cuts on various metals.
  9. Cleaning: Effective for removing rust, oil stains, dirt, and paint from metal surfaces.
  10. Monitoring: Continuously monitor the process and adjust parameters if necessary.
  11. Power Off: After completing the task, deactivate the laser, then turn off the main power switch.

7. Maintenance

  • Daily Checks: Before each use, check the water level in the chiller and ensure all connections are secure.
  • Water Chiller Maintenance: Regularly check the water quality in the chiller. Replace the water every 3-6 months or as recommended by the chiller manufacturer. Use only deionized, distilled, or purified water.
  • Protective Lens: Inspect the protective lens in the welding gun regularly for damage or contamination. Replace if necessary (5 spare lenses are included).
  • Nozzles: Clean or replace welding and cutting nozzles as they wear out to maintain optimal performance.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the machine clean and free of dust and debris. Ensure ventilation grilles are unobstructed.
  • Laser Source: The Raycus laser source is designed for maintenance-free operation with a long service life (100,000+ hours). However, ensure its environment is kept within specified temperature and humidity ranges (15~35 ℃, < 70% humidity).

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Laser Output:
    • Check if the machine is powered on and the emergency stop button is disengaged.
    • Verify all cables are securely connected.
    • Ensure the water chiller is running and the water temperature is within the operating range.

  • Poor Welding/Cutting/Cleaning Quality:
    • Inspect the protective lens and nozzle for cleanliness and damage. Replace if necessary.
    • Adjust laser parameters (power, speed, scan width, frequency) according to the material and task.
    • Ensure the workpiece is clean and properly prepared.
  • Overheating:
    • Check the water level and circulation in the chiller.
    • Ensure the chiller's fan is operating and not obstructed.
    • Verify the ambient temperature is within the specified operating range (15~35 ℃).
