2. Safety Information

4. Setup & Installation

The AVATTO N-TRV16 requires a Tuya ZigBee gateway (sold separately) to function with the app and voice control features.

Installation Steps:

  1. Install the Battery:
    Open the battery compartment and insert three (3) 1.5V AA alkaline batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity.
  2. Install on the Valve:
    Remove your existing thermostatic head from the radiator valve. Screw the AVATTO N-TRV16 onto the radiator valve. Ensure it is securely fastened. Use appropriate adapters if necessary (refer to Figure 2 for adapter types).
  3. Connect to the Gateway:
    Ensure your Tuya ZigBee gateway is powered on and connected to your home network. Follow the gateway's instructions to put it into pairing mode.
  4. APP for Pairing:
    Download the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app from your smartphone's app store. Register or log in. Follow the in-app instructions to add a new device. The app will guide you through connecting the TRV to your ZigBee gateway.

5. Operation

Manual Control:

You can adjust the temperature directly on the device using the knob button. The digital display will show the current temperature setting.

APP Control (Smart Life/Tuya Smart):

Once paired with the app via the ZigBee gateway, you can remotely control the TRV from anywhere. This includes setting target temperatures, changing modes, and accessing advanced features.

Voice Control:

Operating Modes:

The TRV supports several operating modes to suit different needs:

Anti-Freezing Function:

When the TRV is in the 'Off' status, if the ambient temperature drops below 5°C, the valve will automatically open to prevent pipes from freezing. It will close again when the temperature rises above 8°C.

Bidirectional Screen:

To switch the display orientation, adjust the temperature to 35℃, then long-press the knob. The display will rotate 180 degrees for better viewing angles.

  • Temperature Calibration: If you notice a discrepancy between the TRV's reading and an external thermometer, use the app's temperature calibration feature for more accurate control.
  • Optimal Scheduling: Experiment with different time periods and temperatures in your weekly schedule to find the most energy-efficient and comfortable settings for your home.

7. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: When the battery indicator on the display or app shows low power, replace all three AA alkaline batteries promptly. Ensure the device is in a stable state during replacement.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in water.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Smart Life/Tuya app for available firmware updates to ensure your TRV has the latest features and performance improvements. Firmware can be upgraded online.

8. Troubleshooting

Common Issues:

  • Device not pairing: Ensure the ZigBee gateway is powered on, connected to the internet, and in pairing mode. Check the distance between the TRV and the gateway.
  • No response from app/voice control: Verify that the TRV is connected to the ZigBee gateway and the gateway is online. Check your internet connection. Ensure the app is updated and voice assistant integration is correctly set up.
  • Inaccurate temperature reading: Use the temperature calibration feature in the app to adjust the reading if it deviates from an external thermometer.
  • Valve not opening/closing: Check battery levels. Ensure the TRV is securely installed on the valve. If the issue persists, the valve mechanism might be stuck or require professional inspection.
  • Short battery life: Ensure you are using high-quality alkaline batteries. Frequent manual adjustments or very cold ambient temperatures can reduce battery life.
