6. Maintenance

  1. Checking Ink Levels: Regularly check the ink levels in the transparent ink tanks. Refill ink promptly when levels are low to prevent air from entering the system, which can cause print quality issues.
  2. Refilling Ink: Follow the same procedure as initial ink filling (Section 4, Step 4). Use only compatible sublimation or dye inks as recommended by the manufacturer.
  3. Print Head Cleaning: If you notice faded or uneven prints, perform a print head cleaning cycle using the printer utility software on your computer or through the printer's control panel. This helps clear clogged nozzles.
  4. Nozzle Check: After a print head cleaning, perform a nozzle check to verify that all nozzles are firing correctly.
  5. Printer Cleaning:
    • Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth.
    • Periodically clean the paper path and rollers to prevent paper jams and maintain print quality. Refer to the printer's software utility for specific cleaning options.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Printer Not Responding:
    • Check power connections.
    • Ensure the printer is turned on.
    • Verify USB or WiFi connection.
    • Restart both the printer and your computer.
  • Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaky, Incorrect Colors):
    • Check ink levels and refill if necessary.
    • Perform a nozzle check and print head cleaning.
    • Ensure you are using the correct paper type and print settings for your media.
    • Verify that the correct ink type (sublimation or dye) is being used for your application.
  • Paper Jams:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    • Carefully remove any jammed paper from the input tray, output tray, or inside the printer. Do not force the paper.
    • Ensure paper is loaded correctly and not creased or curled.
  • WiFi Connectivity Issues:
    • Ensure the printer is within range of your WiFi router.
    • Restart your router and printer.
    • Reconfigure WiFi settings on the printer.

8. User Tips

  • Consistent Ink Usage: For best results with sublimation printing, try to use the printer regularly to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles.
  • Color Profiles: When doing sublimation, experiment with different ICC color profiles to achieve the most accurate and vibrant colors for your specific sublimation blanks and heat press.
  • Media Matching: Always select the correct media type in your printer settings to optimize ink usage and print quality for photos, ID cards, or sublimation paper.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check the Epson support website for updated drivers and firmware to ensure your printer has the latest features and bug fixes.
