5. Operating Instructions
The Tuya Smart Garden Sprinkler Water Timer offers various modes for flexible irrigation control via the Smartlife app.
5.1. App Overview
Once connected, the Smartlife app provides a comprehensive interface to manage your water timer. You will see individual controls for each of the four zones (A, B, C, D), allowing you to set schedules, activate misting, or manually control watering for each zone independently.

5.2. Timed Irrigation Mode
To automate your watering schedule:
- In the Smartlife app, select the desired zone (A, B, C, or D).
- Choose "Schedule" or "Timed Irrigation Mode".
- Set the desired start time, running duration (e.g., 30 minutes), and watering days (e.g., Monday to Sunday, specific days, or a single cycle).
- Save your settings. The timer will now water automatically according to your program.

5.3. Misting Mode
For misting systems, outdoor cooling, or dust reduction:
- In the Smartlife app, select the desired zone.
- Choose "Misting Mode".
- Set the mist duration (e.g., 1 to 60 minutes) and interval duration (e.g., 1 to 60 minutes).
- Select the days for misting.
- Save your settings. The timer will cycle on and off intermittently as programmed.
5.4. Rain Delay
To conserve water during rainy periods:
- In the Smartlife app, navigate to the "Weather Delay" or "Rain Delay" function.
- You can set the system to automatically skip watering based on cloud-based weather data at your equipment's location.
- Alternatively, manually set a rain delay from 1 day to 7 days.
- The timer will pause scheduled watering for the specified period.
5.5. Manual Watering
For immediate watering needs:
- Via App: In the Smartlife app, select the desired zone and activate "Manual Mode" to turn the water on or off instantly.
- Via Device: You can also press the corresponding zone button on the water timer itself to manually activate or deactivate watering for that zone.

5.6. Wireless Connectivity
The system utilizes RF433 for communication between the water timer and the gateway, offering a long-distance connection of up to 500 meters in unobstructed environments. The gateway then connects to your home Wi-Fi for app control. The RF433 signal is strong enough to pass through walls, ensuring stable connection even when the timer is outdoors and the gateway indoors.

6. User Tips
- Battery Life: The water timer uses 2x 1.5V 'AA' alkaline batteries. Battery life can vary depending on usage frequency and environmental conditions. It is recommended to use high-quality alkaline batteries for best performance. There is no option to recharge the timer via a Type-C connector.
- Multiple Outlets Operation: Yes, you can run multiple outlets (zones) simultaneously or individually. The 4-outlet design allows for independent control of each zone through the Smartlife app, enabling flexible watering for different areas of your garden.
- Initial Test: After installing batteries and setting up, it is recommended to perform a manual watering test for each zone to ensure normal operation before setting up schedules.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the water timer with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Filter Screen: Regularly check and clean the built-in filter screen to prevent debris from clogging the timer and affecting water flow.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears in the app or on the device, or if the timer stops responding. Always use new alkaline batteries.
- Winterization: Before the first frost, disconnect the water timer from the faucet and store it indoors in a dry, frost-free location. Remove batteries before storage to prevent corrosion.
- Waterproof Rating: The timer has an IPX5 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. However, it should not be submerged in water.

8. Troubleshooting
- Timer not responding:
- Check battery levels and replace if necessary.
- Ensure the gateway is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi.
- Verify the water timer is within the 500m RF433 range of the gateway.
- Re-pair the water timer with the gateway if connection issues persist.
- No water flow:
- Check if the faucet is fully open.
- Inspect the filter screen for clogs and clean if needed.
- Ensure the water pressure is within the specified range (0.05-0.8 Mpa).
- Verify that the scheduled watering or manual mode is activated for the correct zone.
- App connection issues:
- Ensure your smartphone is connected to the internet.
- Restart the Smartlife app.
- Check if your home Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz, as the gateway may not support 5GHz networks.
- Restart the gateway by unplugging and re-plugging it.
- Water leakage:
- Ensure all connections (faucet, timer, hoses) are tight and properly sealed with rubber rings.
- Check for cracks or damage to the timer body or connectors.
