4.3. Bluetooth Pairing

The RS-9000 supports HID, SPP, and BLE Bluetooth modes. The transmission distance is approximately 10 meters with obstacles.

  1. Power On: Press the trigger button to power on the scanner.
  2. Select Mode: Scan the appropriate command barcode for your desired Bluetooth mode (HID, SPP, or BLE). These command barcodes are typically found in a separate quick start guide or the full manual.
  3. Enable Bluetooth on Host Device: Turn on Bluetooth on your laptop, PC, mobile phone, tablet, iPhone, iPad, or POS system.
  4. Search for Device: Search for available Bluetooth devices. The scanner should appear as "Netum Bluetooth" or similar.
  5. Pair: Select the scanner from the list to pair.

Important Note on Mode Switching:

  • To switch from HID to SPP or BLE, simply scan the corresponding command barcode.
  • To switch to HID mode from SPP or BLE: Ignore (or delete) "Netum Bluetooth" from your device's paired list, turn off Bluetooth on your device, scan the HID command barcode with the scanner, then turn on Bluetooth on your device and re-pair.

5. Operating Modes

5.1. Scanning Barcodes

To scan a barcode, point the scanner's window at the barcode and press the trigger button. The scanner will emit a light and beep upon successful scan. The RS-9000 can scan both 1D and 2D barcodes from printed labels and digital screens.

5.2. Offline Mode (Data Storage)

When the scanner is out of Bluetooth range in Auto mode, it will automatically store scanned data in its internal memory buffer. Once the scanner is back within wireless coverage, the stored data will be transmitted to the host device by scanning an 'upload code' (refer to your quick start guide for this specific barcode).

5.3. Supported Symbologies

The NETUM RS-9000 supports a wide range of 1D and 2D barcode symbologies:

  • 1D Symbologies: UPC/EAN (UPCA/UPCE/EAN-8/EAN-13, ISBN (Bookland), Code 39, Code 32 (Italian Pharmacode), Code 128, Code 93, Codabar, Interleaved 2 of 5, Standard 2 of 5, Industrial 2 of 5, Matrix 2 of 5 (Japanese), Code 11, Telepen, Pharmacode, Chinese ZIP Code, MSI Plessey, GS1 DataBar, GS1 DataBar Limited, GS1 DataBar Expanded, Telepen.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1. Common Issues and Solutions

Q: Some barcodes cannot be read, why?
A: Dirty or unclear barcodes might not be readable. Digital barcodes displayed on phones, computers, or tablets can be read by CCD or 2D scanners but not by laser barcode scanners. The setting for some barcode types may be off by default. You may need to activate a specific barcode type by scanning a command barcode. Please contact Customer Service if you need assistance identifying the correct barcode type.
Q: Is there any barcode to apply or remove 'Enter' for suffix?
A: Yes, you can refer to the Common Function Barcodes in your manual to reverse the setting or contact Customer Service for assistance.
Q: The data cannot be sent to my computer. Why?
A: Please ensure you have turned off the inventory mode. If not, the scanner will store your scans internally instead of transmitting them. You need to scan the 'Manual data upload' barcode to send the scanned codes to your connected device.
Q: How to solve the messy code problem encountered while using other foreign languages?
A: The default language is English. Please refer to the 'Language Setting' chapter in your manual to change the setting.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. For the scan window, use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with a mild cleaning solution (e.g., isopropyl alcohol) and wipe gently. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to about 50% and store it separately if possible.
  • Durability: The RS-9000 features a robust design to protect against dust and moisture. However, it is not fully waterproof; avoid submerging it in liquids.

9. User Tips

  • Battery Management: The RS-9000 comes with a replaceable battery, and spare batteries are available. Consider having a charged spare battery on hand for continuous operation, especially during long shifts.
  • Charging Efficiency: If using multiple charging docks, ensure they are connected as recommended (no more than 5 in a daisy chain) to maintain optimal charging speed.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: For stable Bluetooth connection, ensure your host device's operating system meets the requirements (iOS, Android, Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/CE, Mac OS X, Linux) and keep the scanner within the effective transmission range.
  • Customization: Explore the various command barcodes in the full manual to customize settings like suffix, prefix, and operating modes to best suit your workflow.
