6. Setup
6.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure both the Transmitter and Receiver units are powered off.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of each unit.
- Use a screwdriver (if necessary) to open the battery cover.
- Insert a 9V 6F22 battery into each compartment, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery cover securely.

6.2 Initial Connection
Before performing any tests, ensure the cables are properly terminated with RJ11 or RJ45 connectors. For network cable tests, connect the cable to the corresponding ports on the Transmitter and Receiver.
7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Cable Tracing (Line Finding)
This function helps quickly find the right cable in cluttered environments.
- Connect one end of the cable to be traced to the RJ45 or RJ11 port on the Transmitter.
- Turn on the Transmitter.
- Turn on the Receiver and activate the line finding switch.
- Adjust the Sensitivity Adjustment Knob on the Receiver to an appropriate level.
- Move the Receiver's inductive probe along the suspected cables. A "drip" sound or visual indication on the line finding indicator light will increase in intensity as you approach the target cable.

7.2 Cable Breakpoint Localization
To quickly troubleshoot wiring and locate breaks, shorts, or damage in cables:
- Connect one end of the cable to the Transmitter.
- Turn on the Transmitter.
- Turn on the Receiver and activate the line finding switch.
- Move the Receiver's inductive probe along the cable. A "drip" sound indicates continuity.
- If the sound stops abruptly, it indicates a breakpoint in the cable at that location.

7.3 Network Cable Pairing Function (Line Sequence Test)
This function checks the wiring sequence of network cables (Cat5/Cat6) for open circuits, short circuits, cross-overs, and other wiring errors.
- Connect one end of the network cable to the RJ45 port on the Transmitter and the other end to the RJ45 port on the Receiver.
- Turn on both units.
- Select the "PAIR" or "SCAN" mode on the Transmitter (depending on model, refer to Figure 5).
- Observe the line sequence lights on both the Transmitter and Receiver. The lights will illuminate in sequence, indicating the status of each wire pair.
- Any deviation from the standard sequence or unlit indicators point to a wiring fault.

7.4 POE Power Supply Test
Detect whether Ethernet cables are providing power to POE-powered devices (e.g., IP cameras, wireless APs).
- Connect the network cable from the POE source to the RJ45 port on the Transmitter.
- Turn on the Transmitter and select the POE test function (if available as a dedicated mode, otherwise the device will indicate voltage presence).
- The device will indicate the presence and voltage of POE power.

7.5 NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Measurement
Safely detect whether a cable is energized without direct contact.
- Turn on the Receiver.
- Activate the NCV function (usually a dedicated button or mode).
- Bring the inductive probe of the Receiver close to the cable or power outlet.
- The NCV indicator light and/or an audible alarm will activate if voltage is detected.

7.6 Telephone Line Status Measurement (HT800A only)
The HT800A model can identify phone line polarity, standby status, and ringing/off-hook conditions.
- Connect the RJ11 adaptor cable to the RJ11 port on the HT800A Transmitter.
- Connect the other end of the RJ11 cable to the telephone line.
- Turn on the Transmitter and select the telephone line test mode.
- Observe the indicators for polarity, standby, ringing, or off-hook status.

7.7 LED Lighting Function
Both units are equipped with an LED light for improved visibility in dark working conditions.
- On the Receiver, locate the lighting switch (refer to Figure 5).
- Toggle the switch to turn the LED light ON or OFF.
8. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean and dry. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth if necessary. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Store the device in its storage pouch when not in use to protect it from dust and damage.
- Replace batteries when the low voltage alert is indicated to ensure accurate measurements.
- If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- The RJ45 and RJ11 interface contacts are oxidation-resistant, but proper care will extend their lifespan.
9. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- No Signal during Line Finding:
- Ensure the cable is properly connected to the Transmitter.
- Adjust the Sensitivity Adjustment Knob on the Receiver.
- Verify the Transmitter is powered on and in the correct mode.
- Check for excessive electromagnetic interference in the environment.
- Incorrect Line Sequence Reading:
- Ensure both ends of the cable are securely connected to the Transmitter and Receiver.
- Check the crimping of the RJ45/RJ11 connectors.
- Test with a known good cable to verify device functionality.
- NCV Not Detecting Voltage:
- Ensure the NCV function is activated on the Receiver.
- Confirm the cable or outlet is indeed energized.
- Ensure the probe is close enough to the target.

11. User Tips
- For best results in line finding, ensure the area is as quiet as possible to clearly hear the "drip" sound.
- When tracing cables in dense bundles, adjust the sensitivity knob carefully to isolate the target cable. Lower sensitivity can help pinpoint the exact cable.
- Always perform a quick self-test with a known good cable before troubleshooting a new installation to confirm the device is functioning correctly.
- Remember to turn off both units after use to conserve battery life.
