4. Safety Information

  • Always cut off the power supply at the circuit breaker before installation or maintenance. Failure to do so may result in electric shock or damage to the device.
  • Carefully review the wiring diagrams provided in this manual before proceeding with installation.
  • For installations without a neutral wire, the included capacitor must be correctly connected to the L1 terminal and the Neutral Wire for proper operation.
  • For installations requiring a neutral wire, ensure a neutral wire is present and correctly connected to power the switch.
  • Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician if you are unsure about any steps.

5. Setup

5.1. Installation and Wiring

Before beginning, ensure the main power supply to the circuit is turned off.

5.1.1. No Neutral Wire Required Mode

If your electrical box does not have a neutral wire, follow this diagram. The capacitor is essential for stable operation in this mode and must be connected to L1 and the Neutral Wire.

5.2. App Pairing and Smart Home Integration

The Manhot Matter WiFi Smart Switch requires a Matter-enabled hub for integration into your smart home ecosystem. Matter devices are designed to work across various Matter-certified platforms simultaneously, eliminating the need to choose a single controller or app.

  • Matter Enabled Hub: Ensure you have a compatible Matter-enabled hub (e.g., Apple HomePod Mini, Google Nest Hub) set up in your home.
  • Adding to Apple HomeKit: You can add and control the device by scanning the QR code located on the switch using the Apple Home app.
  • Other Platforms: For Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or other Matter-compatible platforms, follow the device addition instructions within their respective apps. The switch also supports control via the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Manhot Matter WiFi Smart Switch, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the switch surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
  • Environment: Ensure the switch is installed in an environment within the specified working temperature (-20°C to 75°C) and humidity (<95%) ranges. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, excessive moisture, or extreme temperatures.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app or your Matter-enabled hub's app for available firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated ensures you have the latest features and security enhancements.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your smart switch, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Switch Unresponsive:
    • Check if the circuit breaker is tripped.
    • Ensure the wiring is correct according to the installation diagrams (Figures 3 and 4).
    • If in no-neutral mode, verify the capacitor is correctly installed.
    • Temporarily cut power to the switch at the breaker for 30 seconds, then restore power.
  • Connectivity Issues (Wi-Fi/Matter):
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The switch does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
    • Check if your Matter-enabled hub is online and within range of the switch.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router and Matter hub.
    • Attempt to re-pair the switch with your Matter ecosystem or Smart Life/Tuya app.
  • Voice Control Not Working:
    • Verify that the smart switch is successfully linked to your voice assistant (Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri).
    • Ensure your voice assistant device is online and properly configured.
    • Check the device name in your smart home app; sometimes simple names work best.
  • Indicator Light Malfunction:
    • Check the 'Indicator Light Status' settings in the app (Figure 15) to ensure it's configured as desired.
    • If the issue persists, a factory reset might be necessary (refer to app for reset procedure).

9. User Tips

  • Wi-Fi Network: Always ensure your home Wi-Fi network is operating on the 2.4GHz band for optimal compatibility and performance with the smart switch.
  • Capacitor Installation (No Neutral): For installations without a neutral wire, correctly installing the capacitor is crucial. Improper installation can lead to flickering lights or unstable switch operation.
  • Matter Hub Proximity: Keep your Matter-enabled hub reasonably close to the smart switch, especially during initial setup, to ensure a strong and stable connection.
  • Naming Conventions: Use simple and distinct names for your smart switches in your app (e.g., "Living Room Light," "Bedroom Fan") to make voice control commands more intuitive and reliable.
