5. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your hybrid solar inverter. Please follow these steps carefully.
5.1. Mounting the Unit
Consider the following points before selecting where to install:
- Do not mount the inverter on flammable construction materials.
- Mount on a solid surface.
- Install this inverter at eye level to allow the LCD display to be read at all times.
- For proper air circulation to dissipate heat, allow a clearance of approximately 20 cm to the side and approximately 50 cm above and below the unit.
- The recommended installation position is to be adhered to the wall vertically.
- Be sure to keep other objects and surfaces as shown in the diagram to guarantee sufficient heat dissipation and to have enough space for removing wires.

Figure 5.1: Recommended mounting clearances for heat dissipation.
WARNING: SUITABLE FOR MOUNTING ON CONCRETE OR OTHER NON-COMBUSTIBLE SURFACE ONLY.
5.2. Wiring Connections
Refer to the installation video and diagrams for detailed wiring instructions. Always ensure power is disconnected before making any connections.
Video 5.1: Step-by-step guide for inverter installation and wiring connections.
5.2.1. Battery Connection
The 6.2KW model supports a 48VDC battery system. Connect the battery to the positive and negative terminals of the inverter. Ensure correct polarity (red for positive, black for negative).

Figure 5.2: Battery Connection Diagram. The 6.2KW model requires a 48VDC system.
5.2.2. Utility Grid Connection
Connect the utility grid input to the designated AC IN terminals on the inverter. Ensure proper wiring for Live (L), Neutral (N), and Ground.
5.2.3. Ground Connection
Connect the ground wire to the inverter's ground terminal for safety.
5.2.4. Output Connections
Connect your loads to the Main Output and Second Output terminals. The inverter provides a pure sine wave output suitable for various appliances.
5.2.5. PV Connection
Connect your solar panels to the PV IN terminals. Observe the maximum PV array power, open circuit voltage, and MPPT voltage range specified in the specifications table.

Figure 5.3: PV Connection Diagram and module parameters.
When selecting PV modules, ensure the Open Circuit Voltage (Voc) of PV modules does not exceed the maximum PV array open circuit voltage of the inverter (500VDC). Also, the Voc of PV modules should be higher than the minimum battery voltage.
6. Operating Instructions
Once all connections are secure, you can begin operating your inverter.
6.1. System Operation Modes
The inverter can operate in various modes depending on the availability of solar power, AC power, and battery connection.

Figure 6.1: System Operation Diagrams for various power scenarios.
Operation without Battery Connected:
- Solar Power Available: Solar power directly supplies the load. If solar power is insufficient, the utility grid supplements.
- AC Power Available: Utility grid supplies the load. Solar power is used for charging if a battery is connected (though this section describes 'without battery').
Operation with Battery Connected:
- Solar Power and AC Power Available: Solar power prioritizes charging the battery and then supplies the load. Utility grid supplements if needed.
- Solar Power and AC Power Not Available: Battery supplies the load.
6.2. WIFI Monitoring and Control
The inverter includes a WIFI module for remote monitoring and control via the SmartESS App (available for iOS and Android). To enable WIFI, ensure option 05 in the inverter's settings is set to "USE".

Figure 6.2: Monitoring and Control via SmartESS App with optional WIFI module.
6.3. Pure Sine Wave Output
The inverter provides a pure sine wave output, which is identical to the voltage waveform of the utility grid. This ensures high-quality AC power with higher efficiency, stable output, and broad compatibility with various electronic devices.

Figure 6.3: Pure Sine Wave Output and examples of compatible loads.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your inverter.
- Cleaning: Keep the inverter's exterior clean and free from dust. Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked.
- Connection Checks: Periodically check all electrical connections (battery, PV, utility, load) for tightness and signs of corrosion.
- Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within specified temperature and humidity ranges.
- Battery Health: If using a battery, monitor its health and ensure it is properly charged and maintained according to the battery manufacturer's guidelines.
8. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter.
- Inverter Not Turning On: Check battery connections, power switch, and utility input. Ensure battery voltage is within the acceptable range.
- No Output Power: Verify input sources (solar, utility) are active. Check for overload or short circuit conditions. Refer to the LED indicators for fault warnings.
- WIFI Connection Issues: Ensure the WIFI module is correctly installed and option 05 is set to 'USE' in the inverter's settings. Check your network connection and app settings.
- Overload/Over Temperature: Reduce the load connected to the inverter. Ensure adequate ventilation and clear any obstructions around the unit.
For persistent issues, contact customer support or a qualified technician.
9. User Tips
- The SMH III 6.2KW model can operate without a battery, providing flexibility for direct solar-to-load applications or utility backup.
- The WIFI antenna is included with the inverter for remote monitoring. Remember to enable it via the LCD settings (option 05).
- For the 6.2KW model, a 48VDC battery pack is required if you plan to use battery storage.
- When connecting PV modules, always ensure the open circuit voltage (Voc) of your solar array does not exceed 500VDC to prevent damage to the inverter.
