4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the humidor for any shipping damage. Keep packaging for future transport if needed.
  2. Placement: Choose a location with adequate air circulation, away from direct sunlight, heat sources (e.g., ovens, radiators), and areas with extreme temperature fluctuations. Ensure there is at least 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) of space around the back and sides for proper ventilation. The humidor must be placed on a firm, level surface.
  3. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the interior and exterior surfaces with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  4. Seasoning the Cedar Shelves: Spanish cedar wood requires seasoning to prevent it from drawing moisture from your cigars. This is a critical step.
    • Wipe down all cedar shelves and trays with a clean cloth lightly dampened with distilled water. Do not soak the wood.
    • Place a small dish of distilled water inside the humidor.
    • Close the humidor door and allow it to sit for 24-48 hours.
    • Monitor the internal humidity. Once it stabilizes within the desired range (60-80%), the humidor is seasoned and ready for cigars.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

The humidor features an intuitive LCD touch screen control panel for managing temperature and humidity.

  1. Power On/Off: Press the power button on the control panel to turn the unit on or off.
  2. Temperature Setting: Use the temperature adjustment buttons (usually up/down arrows) on the LCD panel to set your desired temperature. The recommended range for cigars is 18-21°C (64-70°F). This model supports a range of 5-22°C.
  3. Humidity Control: This humidor is designed to maintain a humidity range of 60%~80%. The air cooling system and internal circulation (Figure 4) contribute to stable humidity. Some models may include a water reservoir for active humidification; refer to your specific unit's features. Ensure the water reservoir (if present) is filled with distilled water.
  4. Loading Cigars: Once the humidor is seasoned and stable, arrange your cigars on the cedar shelves. Avoid overcrowding to allow for proper air circulation.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Interior: Periodically wipe the interior with a clean, damp cloth (distilled water only). Do not use soap or chemical cleaners, as these can leave odors that will affect your cigars.
  • Cleaning the Exterior: Clean the exterior surfaces with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Water Reservoir (if applicable): If your model has a water reservoir for humidity, ensure it is regularly checked and refilled with distilled water. Clean it periodically to prevent mold or mineral buildup.
  • Dusting: Regularly dust the ventilation grilles to ensure proper airflow.
