4. Setup

4.1. Attaching the Lens to Your Phone

The LS-79 lens features a universal 17mm screw thread interface, allowing for flexible mounting options:

  • Phone Case/Cage: For optimal stability and alignment, it is recommended to use a dedicated phone case or cage with a 17mm threaded interface.
  • Universal Clip: A universal clip with a 17mm thread can also be used for quick attachment, though stability may vary.

Important: Always attach the LS-79 lens to your phone's existing telephoto lens, not the 1x main camera lens, for proper functionality and image quality.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Using as a Telephoto Lens

The LS-79 provides a 2X optical magnification, effectively extending your phone's telephoto capabilities. When attached to a phone with a native 5X telephoto lens (e.g., 120mm focal length), the LS-79 acts as a 2X teleconverter, achieving an equivalent 240mm focal length. This allows you to capture distant objects with superior clarity compared to digital zoom.

5.2. Using as a Macro Lens

The LS-79 telephoto lens can be converted into a macro lens by attaching the optional 200mm or 300mm macro module lenses to its front. These modules allow for extreme close-up photography.

  • 200mm Macro Module: Provides an effective focusing distance of approximately 18cm.
  • 300mm Macro Module: Provides an effective focusing distance of approximately 30cm.

6. User Tips

6.1. iPhone Usage Tips (iPhone 15 Pro Max / iPhone 16 Pro / iPhone 16 Pro Max)

When using external lenses with certain iPhone models, you may experience an issue where the camera app switches to the Ultra Wide lens, even after disabling Macro mode. To prevent this and ensure a better shooting experience with your 2X telephoto lens, use the provided black lens stickers to cover the phone's ultra-wide lens.

iPhone Usage Tips: Illustrates applying a black lens sticker to cover the ultra-wide lens to prevent lens jumping.

6.2. General Usage Tips

  • Optimal Telephoto Performance: For phones with native telephoto lenses less than 5X, you may need to manually zoom your phone's camera to 5X (or the closest equivalent) before attaching the LS-79 to achieve the best results.
  • Stability: For sharpest images, especially in macro mode or low light, consider using a tripod or stabilizing your phone.
  • Lens Cap: Always use the metal lens cap when the lens is not in use to protect the optical elements from dust and scratches.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning the Lens

To maintain optimal image quality, keep the lens elements clean. Use a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces. For stubborn smudges, a small amount of lens cleaning solution applied to the cloth (not directly to the lens) can be used. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.

7.2. Storage

Store the lens in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Always attach the lens cap when storing to protect the glass elements.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1. Image Blurriness or Vignetting

  • Ensure the lens is securely and correctly aligned with your phone's telephoto camera.
  • Check if the lens elements are clean and free from dust or smudges.
  • Verify that you are focusing correctly, especially in macro mode.
  • If using with a phone that has less than 5X native telephoto, ensure you have digitally zoomed to 5X (or closest) before attaching the lens.

8.2. iPhone Camera Switching to Ultra Wide

As noted in the User Tips section, some iPhone models (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max) may automatically switch to the ultra-wide lens when an external lens is detected, even if macro mode is disabled. To resolve this, use the provided black lens stickers to cover the phone's ultra-wide lens. This will force the phone to use the telephoto lens with the LS-79 attached.

This product comes with a manufacturer's warranty. Please refer to the warranty card included in your package or contact the seller for specific warranty terms and conditions.
