1. Introduction

The WANGLU LT-600 series multi-functional cable tester is an essential tool designed for technical personnel involved in security monitoring, communication wiring, integrated wiring, and other weak current systems. 3. Setup

3.1 Initial Battery Connection

The tester is equipped with a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery. For safety during transportation, the battery cable inside the battery compartment may be disconnected. Before initial use, it is crucial to connect the battery cable.

  1. Carefully open the battery compartment cover on the main unit.
  2. Locate the battery and its cable.
  3. Connect the battery cable securely to the designated port.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover.

3.2 Charging the Device

Use the provided Type-C charger cable to charge both the main unit (Emitter) and the receiver. Ensure the device is fully charged before extensive use for optimal performance.

3.3 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the power button on both the main unit and the receiver to power them on or off.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Cable Tracing

Use the receiver to trace and locate specific cables within a bundle or wall.

  1. Connect the cable to be traced to the main unit's appropriate port.
  2. Select the 'Cable Tracing' mode on the main unit.
  3. Use the receiver to scan along the path of the cable. The receiver will emit an audible tone and/or visual indication when it detects the signal from the main unit.
  4. Adjust the sensitivity knob on the receiver for precise localization.

4.2 UTP Cable Test & Continuity Test

This function checks the wiring sequence, continuity, and crimping quality of RJ45 and RJ11 cables.

  1. Connect one end of the UTP/RJ45/RJ11 cable to the main unit's UTP/SCAN port and the other end to the receiver's UTP Cable Test Port.
  2. Select 'UTP Cable Test' or 'Continuity Test' on the main unit.
  3. The screen will display the wiring sequence and indicate any faults such as open circuits, short circuits, or crossed pairs.

4.3 Cable Length Measurement

Measure the length of network cables.

  1. Connect the cable to the main unit's UTP/SCAN port.
  2. Select 'Length Measurement' mode.
  3. The device will display the measured length of the cable. For open circuit tests, the maximum measurement length is up to 3000 meters.

4.4 RJ45 Cable TDR Test

Performs Time Domain Reflectometry to detect cable faults like breakpoints, short circuits, attenuation, and reflectance.

  1. Connect the RJ45 cable to the main unit's UTP/SCAN port.
  2. Select 'RJ45 Cable TDR Test' mode.
  3. The device will analyze the cable and display detailed information about any faults, including their location. Maximum measurable length for RJ45 TDR is 180 meters.

4.5 Port Flashing

Helps identify the physical port on a switch or router to which a cable is connected by flashing its LED indicator.

  1. Connect the cable to the main unit's LAN port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a port on the switch or router.
  3. Select 'Port Flash' mode on the main unit.
  4. The corresponding port LED on the switch/router will flash, allowing for easy identification.

4.6 PoE Test

Detects Power over Ethernet (PoE) presence, type (standard/non-standard), power supply mode, and line pair detection.

  1. Connect the network cable from the PoE source to the main unit's 'PoE Detect' port.
  2. Select 'PoE Test' mode.
  3. The screen will display information such as PoE protocol (IEEE802.3BT/AT/AF), max power, polarity, and power modes.

4.7 Network Tools

The device includes various network diagnostic tools accessible via its 1000M network port.

  • IP Discovery: Scans the network to find active IP addresses.
  • IP Address Scan: Allows scanning a range of IP addresses.
  • PING Test: Tests connectivity to a host by sending ICMP echo requests.
  • LLDP/CDP Detection: Detects Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) and Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) information from connected switches.
  • PPPOE Dial-Up: Supports PPPOE dial-up internet access.

4.8 Optional Functions (VFL, OPM, DMM, TDR Cable Test, Level Meter)

For models LT-600S, LT-600M, and LT-600T, additional functionalities are available.

  • Visual Fault Locator (VFL): Connect a fiber optic cable to the VFL port. Activate the VFL function to emit a red laser, which helps locate breaks or faults in the fiber.
  • Optical Power Meter (OPM): Connect a fiber optic cable to the OPM port. Select the appropriate wavelength to measure the optical power.
  • Digital Multimeter (DMM): Connect the multimeter probes to the DMM ports. Select the desired measurement mode (voltage, resistance, continuity) to perform electrical tests.
  • TDR Cable Test (Advanced): For LT-600T, this provides advanced TDR testing for breakpoints and short circuits up to 1200 meters. Connect the cable and select the TDR function.
  • Level Meter: For LT-600T, use this function to measure signal levels in video cables.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your WANGLU LT-600 series cable tester.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the screen clean for optimal visibility.
