4.1. Speaker Components

The MR5BT features a 1-inch silk dome tweeter and a 5-inch long-throw woofer for precise sound reproduction.

4.2. Rear Panel and Connectivity

The active speaker houses all the input and output connections, along with control knobs.

Active Speaker Rear Panel Features:

5. Setup

5.1. Speaker Placement

Place the speakers on a stable, flat surface, ideally at ear level in your listening position. Ensure there is adequate space around the speakers for proper ventilation and sound dispersion. For optimal stereo imaging, position the speakers equidistant from your listening position, forming an equilateral triangle.

5.2. Connecting the Speakers

  1. Connect the active speaker to the passive speaker using the provided speaker connection cable. Ensure the polarity is correct (+ to + and - to -).
  2. Connect the power cable to the active speaker's power input, then plug it into a wall outlet.

5.3. Connecting Audio Sources

The MR5BT offers versatile connectivity options:

  • Bluetooth: For wireless connection to Bluetooth-enabled devices.
  • RCA Input: Connect to devices like CD players, turntables (with pre-amp), or audio interfaces.
  • TRS Balanced Input: Professional-grade connections with low noise, ideal for audio interfaces and mixers.
  • XLR Balanced Input: Professional-grade connections for studio equipment.
  • AUX Input: Use a 3.5mm cable to connect to smartphones, tablets, or computers.
  • Headphone Output: Facilitates easy headphone connection for monitoring.

Connect your desired audio source to the corresponding input on the active speaker's rear panel.

6. Operation

6.1. Basic Controls

  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button for approximately 1.5 seconds to turn the speakers on or off.
  • Volume Control: Rotate the main knob to adjust the volume.
  • Sound Effect Switch: Press the main knob to cycle through different sound effects or input modes.

6.2. Bluetooth Pairing

The MR5BT supports Bluetooth Multipoint Connectivity, allowing it to connect to two devices simultaneously.

  1. Turn on the speakers.
  2. Switch to Bluetooth input mode (usually indicated by a blue LED).
  3. On your device, search for "EDIFIER MR5BT" in the Bluetooth settings.
  4. Select "EDIFIER MR5BT" to pair. The LED indicator will turn solid blue once connected.
  5. To connect a second device, repeat the process. The speakers will automatically switch between the two connected devices.

6.3. Edifier ConneX Mobile App

Enhance your listening experience by downloading the EDIFIER ConneX mobile app. The app provides additional features and customization options:

6.4. Room Acoustic Compensation

The MR5BT features physical High and Low frequency knobs on the rear panel, and more detailed acoustic tuning options via the Edifier ConneX app.

  • "High" Knobs: Cuts or boosts frequencies above 10kHz by ±6dB.
  • "Low" Knobs: Cuts or boosts frequencies around 125Hz by ±6dB.
  • Acoustic Tuning (App): Provides granular control over frequency, slope, acoustic space, and desktop control to compensate for room reflections and speaker placement.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the speaker surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Dust: Regularly dust the speaker grilles and vents to prevent accumulation that could affect performance.
  • Environment: Avoid placing the speakers in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with high humidity.
  • Storage: If storing the speakers for an extended period, disconnect them from power and store them in a cool, dry place.
