Maintenance

1. Cleaning

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the keyboard.
  • For deeper cleaning, use the provided key puller to remove keycaps. A can of compressed air can be used to remove dust and debris from between switches.
  • Keycaps can be cleaned with mild soap and water, then thoroughly dried before reattaching.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the aluminum alloy finish or keycap legends.

2. Hot-Swappable Switches

The MAX102 supports hot-swappable switches, allowing you to change switches without soldering. Use the provided switch puller to carefully remove switches. When inserting new switches, ensure the pins are aligned correctly with the PCB sockets to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not responding:
    • Check the battery level and charge the keyboard if necessary.
    • Ensure the correct connection mode (2.4G, Bluetooth, or Wired) is selected.
    • For 2.4G, ensure the USB receiver is securely plugged in.
    • For Bluetooth, re-pair the device if connection is lost.
    • Try connecting via wired mode to rule out wireless issues.
  • Keys not registering or double-typing:
    • This could indicate a faulty switch. Since the keyboard is hot-swappable, try replacing the problematic switch.
    • Ensure switches are fully seated in their sockets.
  • Lighting issues:
    • Ensure the keyboard is powered on.
    • Cycle through lighting modes using FN + ~.
    • Check the driver software for lighting settings.
  • Customization software (VIA/QMK) not detecting keyboard:
    • Ensure the keyboard is connected via wired mode.
    • Verify that the correct firmware is installed and the software is up to date.
    • Refer to the official QMK/VIA documentation or the provided web driver link for specific instructions.
