This manual will guide you through the installation, setup, operation, and maintenance of your new smart lock to ensure optimal performance and security for your home or office.

Installation

The Viladepot D6 Smart Lock is designed for easy installation, typically within 10 minutes, and requires no extra drilling for standard door preparations. Ensure your door meets the specified dimensions before proceeding.

Pre-Installation Checks:

  • Verify door thickness is between 1-3/8" to 2" (35mm-50mm).
  • Confirm backset is either 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm).
  • Ensure door hole diameter is 2-1/8" (54mm).
  • Determine if your door is left-handed or right-handed; the handle is reversible.

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Door: Ensure the door frame and door are clean and free of obstructions.
  2. Install the Latch: Insert the adjustable latch into the door edge. Ensure the latch bolt faces the correct direction for your door swing.
  3. Install the Exterior Lever: Feed the cable from the exterior lever through the door hole and align the lever with the latch.
  4. Install the Interior Lever: Connect the cable from the exterior lever to the interior lever. Secure the interior lever to the door using the provided screws, ensuring a snug fit without overtightening.
  5. Install the Strike Plate: Mount the strike plate on the door frame, aligning it with the latch bolt.
  6. Test Operation: After installation, test the mechanical operation of the handle and latch before powering on the lock.

Setup

After physical installation, you will need to set up your smart lock's electronic features.

1. App Control Setup:

  1. Download the official Viladepot smart lock app from your smartphone's app store.
  2. Create an account and log in.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to add your D6 Smart Lock. This typically involves putting the lock into pairing mode (refer to the lock's specific button sequence, usually a reset button or holding a key on the keypad) and connecting it via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
  4. Once connected, you can manage users, generate temporary passcodes, view access logs, and unlock the door remotely.

2. Fingerprint Setup:

  1. Access the fingerprint management section through the mobile app or directly on the lock's keypad (consult the app or quick start guide for specific entry methods).
  2. Follow the prompts to register new fingerprints. You will typically be asked to place your finger on the sensor multiple times from different angles to ensure accurate recognition.
  3. Assign a user name to each registered fingerprint for easy management.

3. Passcode Setup:

  1. Navigate to the passcode management section in the mobile app.
  2. Create a new permanent or temporary passcode. Ensure your passcode is strong and memorable.
  3. You can also set validity periods for temporary passcodes, ideal for guests or service providers.

4. Key Fob Setup:

  1. In the app or on the lock's keypad, enter the key fob registration mode.
  2. Present the key fob to the designated sensor area on the lock (usually near the keypad or fingerprint sensor).
  3. The lock will confirm successful registration.

Operating Instructions

Unlocking Methods:

  • Fingerprint: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint sensor. The lock will unlock if the fingerprint is recognized.
  • Passcode: Enter your registered passcode on the touchscreen keypad, followed by the '#' key.
  • App Control: Use the mobile app to remotely unlock the door.
  • Key Fob: Present the registered key fob to the sensor area on the lock.
  • Physical Key: In case of emergency or battery depletion, use the provided physical keys to manually unlock the door.

Virtual Password Anti-Snooping:

To prevent others from guessing your passcode by observing your finger movements, you can use the virtual password feature. This allows you to enter any random numbers before or after your actual passcode. As long as the correct consecutive passcode is embedded within the sequence you enter, the lock will unlock.

Example: If your passcode is 123456, you can enter 789123456012. The lock will recognize 123456 and unlock.

Maintenance

Battery Management:

  • The lock will provide low battery alerts through the app and/or an indicator on the lock itself. Replace batteries promptly when alerted.
  • In case of complete battery depletion, the lock features an emergency USB backup power socket. Connect a power bank to this port to temporarily power the lock and gain access.
  • Always keep the physical emergency keys in a safe, accessible location outside the locked area.

Cleaning:

  • Wipe the touchscreen and lock body with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and electronic components.
  • Keep the fingerprint sensor clean and free of debris for optimal performance.

Troubleshooting

  • Lock not responding: Check battery levels. If batteries are low or dead, use the emergency USB power or physical key.
  • Fingerprint not recognized: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Try re-registering your fingerprint if the issue persists.
  • Passcode not working: Double-check the entered passcode. Ensure you are pressing '#' after the sequence. Try using the virtual password feature.
  • App connectivity issues: Ensure your phone's Bluetooth/Wi-Fi is on and the lock is within range. Restart the app and/or your phone. Check if the lock's firmware is up to date via the app.
  • Mechanical issues (latch not retracting): Check for any obstructions in the door frame or latch mechanism. Ensure all installation screws are tightened correctly.

User Tips

  • Regularly check battery status: Monitor battery levels through the app to avoid unexpected lockouts.
  • Register multiple fingerprints: For convenience and redundancy, register fingerprints from different fingers and for multiple users.
  • Change passcodes periodically: For enhanced security, update your main passcodes every few months.
  • Keep emergency keys safe: Store physical keys in a secure, easily accessible location outside your home.
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency power: Practice using the USB backup power feature so you are prepared if batteries die.
