1. Introduction

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the device.
2. Open the cover and insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).

4.2 Power On/Off

• To power on, press the Power button (often marked with a power symbol or a triangle).
• To power off, press and hold the Power button for a few seconds, or the device may automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to save battery.

4.3 Setting Reference Point

The device can measure from its front or rear edge. This is crucial for accurate measurements.

• Press the Reference button (often indicated by an icon showing front/rear reference) to toggle between front and rear measurement benchmarks.
• The display will show an icon indicating the currently selected reference point (e.g., a small rectangle at the top for front reference, or at the bottom for rear reference).

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Measurement (Single Distance)

1. Ensure the correct reference point is selected (front or rear).
2. Point the laser at the target object.
3. Press the Measure button (often the main button in the center or marked with a triangle). The measured distance will appear on the display.

5.2 Continuous Measurement (Tracking)

1. Press the FUNC button (or similar function button) until the continuous measurement icon appears (often a running person or a series of lines).
2. Move the device slowly towards or away from the target. The display will continuously update the distance.
3. Press the Measure button again to stop continuous measurement and hold the last value.

5.3 Area Measurement

1. Press the FUNC button until the area measurement icon appears (often a square or rectangle).
2. Measure the first side (e.g., length) by pointing the laser and pressing Measure.
3. Measure the second side (e.g., width) by pointing the laser and pressing Measure.
4. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

5.4 Volume Measurement

1. Press the FUNC button until the volume measurement icon appears (often a cube).
2. Measure the length, then the width, then the height, pressing Measure after each dimension.
3. The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

5.5 Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect Measurement)

This mode allows for indirect measurement of heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem.

1. Press the FUNC button until the Pythagorean measurement icon appears (often a triangle).
2. Follow the on-screen prompts to measure the required sides of the triangle (e.g., hypotenuse, base).
3. The device will calculate and display the unknown side.

The device can store up to 30 sets of measurement data.

• After a measurement, the data is typically automatically stored.
• To recall stored data, press the History or Memory button (often indicated by a stack of papers or similar icon).
• Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the stored measurements.
