4. Setup Instructions
4.1. Device Connection to Vehicle
- Carefully insert the device into the OBD-2 diagnostic connector until it stops. The connector has a trapezoidal shape and 16 pins. It is typically located under the steering wheel, in the glove compartment, or in the center console near the handbrake lever, depending on your car's make and model.
- Activate the device power by pressing the button on the front panel. The indicator light on the adapter will light up.

4.2. App Download
The scanner is compatible with many applications. For popular applications, search for "Car Scanner ELM OBD2" in your device's app store.

4.3. Bluetooth Pairing (iOS)
Note: iOS systems cannot directly connect to Bluetooth 5.0 ELM327 from the phone's Bluetooth settings page. Connection must be initiated from within the app.
- Plug the KW901 into the OBD2 interface.
- Open your iPhone's Bluetooth settings first (ensure Bluetooth is enabled).
- Open a compatible software application (e.g., AUTO Doctor or Car Scanner).
- Within the app, navigate to "Settings" (often a gear icon).
- Select "Adapter OBDII ELM327".
- Choose "Bluetooth LE (4.0+)" or "Bluetooth".
- Select "KONNWEI" from the device list.
- Go back to the app's main menu and click "Connect".

4.4. Bluetooth Pairing (Android)
- Plug the KW901 into the OBD2 interface.
- Open your Android phone's Bluetooth settings and pair with "KONNWEI". (Default password for V-LINK is "1234" if prompted).
- Open a compatible software application (e.g., Torque app).
- Go to the app's OBD II adapter settings.
- Choose connection type: "Bluetooth".
- Choose Bluetooth device: "KONNWEI" (or "V-LINK" if applicable).
- Exit the app completely and then re-run it. The device should now be connected.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Initial Connection and Diagnostics
- Turn on the ignition of your vehicle.
- Start the car after approximately 10 seconds.
- After about 30 seconds, open the diagnostic application on your phone/tablet.
- On the main screen of the application, click the "Connect" button.
- The device will begin scanning your car. Upon successful initialization, the status "Connected" will be displayed (e.g., "ELM connection: Connected", "ECU connection: Connected").
- Once connected, you can start performing diagnostics.

5.2. Function List (ELM327 V1.5 Bluetooth BT5.0)
- Read diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), both generic and manufacturer-specific.
- Clear trouble codes and turn off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), also known as the "Check Engine" light.

6. Troubleshooting
6.1. Device cannot find the "KONNWEI" Bluetooth network
- Check if the adapter is powered on (the button on the front panel should be pressed and the indicator light on the adapter should be lit).
- Check the power supply of your OBDII connector; it should provide 12-14 volts.
- Ensure the car ignition is on.
- Try turning off the ignition, removing the adapter from the socket, reinserting it, and then turning on the ignition.
- Try searching for a Bluetooth network using another smartphone, laptop, or tablet to rule out device-specific issues.
6.2. Adapter disconnects during operation
- Ensure that no high-power devices are being charged through the cigarette lighter during adapter operation, as this can cause interference.
- Be aware that strong voltage surges in the car's network can cause the adapter to work unstably.
6.3. Adapter cannot connect to the ECU
- The ECU installed on your car may require additional add-ons for correct connection, such as an initialization code. Many applications have a ready-made list of codes for various car brands.
- Try using other diagnostic applications. Different applications may use protocols differently to communicate with the adapter.
- Ensure that only one adapter application is running at a time.
- Try reconnecting from step 1 of the setup instructions.
7. User Tips
- For optimal performance, ensure your vehicle's battery is adequately charged before performing diagnostics.
- Always close the diagnostic app completely when not in use to prevent background processes from draining your phone's battery or interfering with other Bluetooth devices.
- If experiencing connection issues, try restarting both the diagnostic tool (by unplugging and replugging) and your mobile device.
