6. Advanced Features

6.1 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

The PG17 MAX integrates ADAS features to enhance driving safety with real-time alerts:

  • Forward Collision Warning: Alerts you when you are too close to the vehicle in front.
  • Lane Departure Warning: Notifies you if you drift out of your lane.
  • Pedestrian Collision Warning: Detects pedestrians in your path and warns of potential collisions.
  • Front Vehicle Start Warning: Informs you when the vehicle ahead starts moving.
  • Close Distance Warning: Alerts you if you are following too closely.

6.2 Blind Spot Detection (BSD) & Lane Change Assist (LCA)

These features actively monitor your blind spots and assist during lane changes:

  • Blind Spot Detection (BSD): Monitors vehicles in your blind spots and provides alerts.
  • Lane Change Assist (LCA): When the turn signal is activated, it checks for approaching vehicles from the side and rear, providing warnings or assisting with steering correction if necessary.

6.3 24-Hour Parking Monitor

The PG17 MAX offers three parking monitoring modes to protect your vehicle when parked. Note: These functions require the optional Type-C 3-Lead Hardwire Kit (sold separately) with an output current of at least 2.5A.

  • Collision Detection Parking Mode: If an impact is detected while the vehicle is off, the camera will record a 1-minute video, lock it, and save it.
  • Time-Lapse Parking Mode: Records at 1 frame per second (fps) when the vehicle is off. If an impact is detected, it records and locks a 1-minute video, then resumes time-lapse recording. This saves storage space.
  • Normal Recording Parking Mode: Continuously records normally when the vehicle is off. If an impact occurs, the current looping video clip is locked and saved.

6.4 Built-in GPS & Route Tracking

6.5 Super Night Vision

Equipped with an upgraded sensor, F1.8 aperture, and a 6-glass lens, the PG17 MAX ensures excellent performance in low-light conditions. Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology effectively captures details in both bright and dark areas, reducing overexposure and underexposure issues for clear night recordings.

7. Maintenance

  • SD Card Formatting: Format your SD card within the dash cam monthly to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption.
  • Lens Cleaning: Regularly clean the dash cam lenses with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear recordings. Ensure your windshield is also clean.
  • Firmware Updates: AZDOME regularly provides firmware updates for improved performance and new features. Check the official AZDOME website or app for the latest updates.
  • Power Supply: Always connect the dash cam to a stable external power source (car charger or hardwire kit) during operation, as the internal battery is primarily for time settings.

8. Troubleshooting

Q: Camera turns on/off automatically?
A: Ensure that the output current of your power source can reach 5V/1A and use the provided car charger or a compatible hardwire kit.
Q: The video image is blurry?
A: Remove any protective film from the lens, clean the lens, and ensure the windshield is clean and free of grease, dirt, and debris. The dash cam has a minimum focal range of approximately 2 meters; objects closer than this may appear blurred.
Q: Camera gets hot during use?
A: It is normal for the camera to get slightly warm during operation, especially when recording high-resolution videos. The operating temperature range is -20℃ to +65℃ (no more than 158°F/70°C).
Q: Cigarette lighter cable not working?
A: Check the fuse in the car power cable plug. If the fuse is blown, inspect the power cable for any damage that might have caused the fuse to blow.
Q: Video has no sound?
A: Ensure that the 'Audio Recording' setting is turned ON in the dash cam's menu.
Q: Voice prompt 'Memory Error'?
A: This usually indicates an issue with the SD card. Using unqualified or third-party cards can affect performance and cause random reboots. Ensure you are using a Class 10 or higher speed SD card. If the issue persists, the TF card may be unqualified for the dash cam's recording requirements. Contact support for assistance.
Q: Video files cannot be played on my computer?
A: Ensure you are using a compatible media player that supports H.264 MP4 video format. You may need to install appropriate codecs or try a different player (e.g., VLC Media Player).

9. User Tips

  • For optimal video quality, especially at night, ensure your windshield is always clean.
  • Regularly check for and install firmware updates to benefit from the latest features and improvements.
  • When using the parking monitor feature, ensure the hardwire kit is correctly installed and provides sufficient power (5V/2.5A) for reliable operation.
  • Utilize the 5.8GHz WiFi and AZDOME app for quick video downloads and easy management of your recordings.
  • Familiarize yourself with the voice commands for hands-free control while driving.
