Setup Guide
1. Install Batteries
- Transmitter: The 23A 12V mini battery is typically pre-installed. If not, open the battery compartment and insert the battery, observing polarity.
- Receivers: Open the battery compartment on each receiver unit and insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
2. Mount the Transmitter
- Slide the transmitter onto your camera's hot shoe mount.
- Tighten the locking ring or lever on the transmitter to secure it firmly to the camera.

3. Mount the Receivers
- Slide each receiver onto the hot shoe of your speedlite flash unit.
- Tighten the locking mechanism on the receiver to secure the flash.
- Alternatively, the receiver's 1/4-inch nut allows it to be mounted on a tripod or light stand for stable positioning of your flash.

4. Set Channels
Both the transmitter and all receivers have channel selection switches (labeled 1 and 2). To ensure proper communication, set the switches on the transmitter and all receivers to the SAME channel combination (e.g., both switches ON for channel 1, or switch 1 ON and switch 2 OFF for channel 2, etc.). There are 4 possible channel combinations.
5. Connect PC Sync Cord (Optional)
If your camera does not have a hot shoe socket, or if you prefer to use the PC sync port:
- Connect one end of the provided 2.5mm to PC sync cord to the PC sync port on your camera (if available).
- Connect the other end (2.5mm jack) to the corresponding port on the transmitter unit.
Operating Instructions
- Power On: Turn on your camera, speedlite flash units, and then the PT-04GY transmitter and receiver units using their respective ON/OFF switches.
- Test Fire: Press the test button on the transmitter. The indicator light on the transmitter should illuminate, and the connected flash units should fire. This confirms the system is working correctly.
- Photography: When you press your camera's shutter button, the transmitter will send a signal to the receivers, triggering the off-camera flashes simultaneously.
- Studio Flash: The receivers also feature a studio flash interface. Connect your studio flash units to the receivers using appropriate sync cables (not included) to trigger them wirelessly.
The PT-04GY system allows for wireless triggering of multiple flash units, offering creative lighting possibilities without the need for direct cable connections.
Maintenance
- Battery Replacement:
- Transmitter: Replace the 23A 12V mini battery when the indicator light becomes dim or the trigger range decreases significantly.
- Receivers: Replace the two 1.5V AAA batteries when the indicator light becomes dim or flashes inconsistently.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the units. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove batteries from the receivers to prevent leakage. Store the units in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the units or subjecting them to strong impacts, as this can damage internal components.
Troubleshooting
- Flashes do not fire:
- Ensure all units (camera, flashes, transmitter, receivers) are powered ON.
- Check battery levels in both the transmitter and receivers. Replace if necessary.
- Verify that the channel switches on the transmitter and all receivers are set to the exact same channel combination.
- Ensure the transmitter is securely mounted on the camera's hot shoe or connected via the PC sync cord.
- Ensure the flash units are securely mounted on the receivers.
- Check the distance between the transmitter and receivers. While rated for 30m outdoor, obstacles can reduce effective range.
- Confirm your camera and flash units are compatible (e.g., not Minolta/Sony hot shoe).
- Inconsistent firing:
- Low batteries can cause inconsistent firing. Replace batteries.
- Interference from other wireless devices might occur. Try changing the channel.
- Ensure a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receivers for optimal performance, especially at longer distances.
- Flash units fire continuously or randomly:
- This could indicate interference. Try changing the channel.
- Ensure the transmitter's test button is not stuck.
User Tips
- Camera Compatibility: This trigger is widely compatible with standard hot shoe cameras like Canon (e.g., EOS 250D), Nikon, Pentax, and Olympus. Always check your camera's hot shoe type if unsure.
- Off-Camera Lighting: Experiment with placing your flashes at different angles and distances from your subject to achieve various lighting effects.
- Studio Flash Integration: Utilize the studio flash interface on the receivers to integrate your studio strobes into your wireless setup.
- Battery Life: Carry spare AAA batteries for your receivers, as they are not included and are essential for operation.
