4. Setup
4.1. Antenna Connection
The BJ-8300 features a multi-band signal reception and transmission capability. The original antenna is designed for FM/136-174MHz and 400-470MHz frequencies. For optimal performance and to use frequencies outside this range, a dedicated SMA-Female antenna compatible with the desired frequency band must be purchased separately.

4.2. Charging the Battery
The BJ-8300 supports convenient Type-C charging. Ensure the radio is powered off before charging.
- Type-C Charging: Connect the provided Type-C charging cable to the radio's Type-C port and the other end to a power adapter (wall charger, car charger, computer USB port, or power bank).
- Charging Indicator: The red indicator light signifies charging in progress. A green indicator light indicates charging is complete.

5. Basic Operations

6.2. Intelligent Noise Reduction
This feature ensures clear voice communication even in noisy environments, improving communication efficiency.

6.3. Spectrum Analyzer Function
The built-in spectrum analyzer provides precise scanning and analysis of signals, helping to identify and resolve signal interference problems, thereby improving communication quality and efficiency.

6.4. Wireless Copy Frequency
This feature allows for easy and fast replication of frequencies between devices with a single click, eliminating complex computer programming and reducing manual programming errors.

6.5. NOAA Weather Forecast Function
To activate this function, define a PF button as NOAA (via Menu 24-26) and press it. The radio has 10 built-in fixed NOAA frequencies. Use the UP/DOWN keys to select the desired frequency. Note: This function is available only in countries and regions that support NOAA channels.
6.6. DTMF Encode Sending
- Fast Operation: Press and hold the PTT button while entering number keys (0-9, MENU, UP, DOWN, EXIT, *, #). The radio will transmit DTMF codes. Release the button to stop sending.
- Editing DTMF Code: In standby mode, short press the
#button to enter the DTMF code editing interface. Enter codes via the keypad. Press PTT to send the DTMF code.
6.7. PTT-ID Function
The PTT-ID function allows transmitting identity codes or call codes via DTMF. There are 15 sets of call codes configurable through programming software. Each signal or A/B band can independently select the call code group to be sent. Three transmission methods are available:
- Send on Press: The call code/identity code is sent first when the PTT is pressed, followed by the voice signal.
- Send on Release: The call code/identity code is sent when the PTT is released, then the transmission ends.
- Send Both: The call code/identity code is sent both when the PTT is pressed and released.
Note: If there is a conflict between identity code and call code settings, the identity code will be sent.
6.8. Scanning Modes
Assign the scanning function to the side keys PF2/PF3, or long press button 1 to start frequency or channel scanning. You can choose one of the following modes from Menu 23:
- Time Operation Mode (TO): The radio stops scanning and stays on a frequency when a signal is detected. After 5 seconds, it resumes scanning, even if the signal is still present.
- Carrier Operation Mode (CO): The radio stops scanning and remains on the frequency when a signal is detected, until the signal disappears. There is a 2-second delay before scanning resumes.
- Search Operation Mode (SE): Upon detecting a signal, the radio exits the scan and stays on that frequency.
6.9. Custom Keys (PF2, PF3)
The PF2 and PF3 keys can be customized to support a variety of functional options, providing convenient and efficient access to features like Lamp, SOS, NOAA, FM, TX Power, Scan, and Search.
