5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly set up your Jebao DCQ pump:
- **Unpacking**: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
- **Placement**: The pump is designed for submersible use in a sump or directly in the aquarium. Ensure it is placed on a stable, flat surface. The pump features suction cups on its base for secure placement (see Figure 7).
- **Fittings**: Attach the appropriate output nozzle and intake screen to the pump. Ensure a tight fit to prevent leaks.
- **Hose Connection**: Connect your return hose to the pump's output nozzle. Secure with a hose clamp if necessary (not included).
- **Electrical Connection**:
- Connect the pump's power cable to the DCQ pump driver (controller).
- Connect the power adapter to the DCQ pump driver.
- Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet (110-240V, depending on your pump model).
Refer to the wiring diagram below for correct connections.
Figure 7: Wiring diagram showing connections between the pump, controller, and power adapter. - **Initial Start-up**: Once all connections are secure and the pump is submerged, plug in the power adapter. The pump should start automatically or can be turned on via the controller.
6. Operating Instructions
The DCQ pump driver allows for precise control over pump speed and various modes.
6.1 Controller Functions
- **LCD Display**: Shows current speed setting or mode status.
- **'+' Button**: Increases pump speed/flow.
- **'-' Button**: Decreases pump speed/flow.
- **'W/F' Button**: Toggles between Wave Mode and Feed Mode.
6.2 Adjusting Pump Speed
Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the controller to adjust the pump's output speed. The LCD display will show the current speed level. Adjust to achieve desired flow rate for your aquarium.
6.3 Wave Mode
Press the 'W/F' button to activate Wave Mode. This mode creates varying flow patterns to simulate natural ocean currents, beneficial for coral and fish health. The display will indicate when Wave Mode is active.
6.4 Feed Mode
Press the 'W/F' button again to activate Feed Mode. In this mode, the pump will temporarily shut off or reduce flow for a set period (e.g., 10 minutes) to allow fish to feed without food being immediately swept away. The display will show 'Feed' or a countdown. The pump will resume normal operation automatically after the set time.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Jebao DCQ pump.
- **Disconnect Power**: Always unplug the pump from the power outlet before performing any maintenance.
- **Disassembly**:
- Remove the intake screen (Figure 9).
- Unscrew the impeller housing (Figure 10).
- Carefully remove the impeller assembly (Figure 11).
- The ceramic shaft and bearings can also be removed for thorough cleaning (Figure 12).

For stubborn deposits, a mild vinegar solution can be used, followed by thorough rinsing.
- **Reassembly**: Reassemble the pump in reverse order, ensuring all parts are correctly seated and secured.
- **Regular Inspection**: Periodically check the power cord and connections for any signs of wear or damage.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |

9. User Tips
- **Regular Cleaning**: Many users find that regular cleaning (e.g., monthly) of the impeller and pump body with a vinegar solution helps prevent calcium buildup and maintains optimal flow.
- **Cable Management**: Ensure cables are routed safely and not pinched, especially where they exit the aquarium or sump.
- **Controller Placement**: Position the controller in a dry, easily accessible location away from splashes.
