Quick Start Guide
Tri-Mode Connection
The VGN S99 keyboard supports three connection modes: Wireless 2.4G, Type-C (Wired), and Bluetooth 5.0. The mode switch is located on the bottom of the keyboard.
2.1 Wireless 2.4G Connection
- Press the cover of the receiver slot to remove the receiver from the keyboard.
- Plug the receiver into the computer's USB port.
- Switch the mode toggle at the bottom of the keyboard to the 2.4G mode position.
2.2 Type-C (Wired) Connection
- Plug the USB-C cable into the port on the keyboard.
- Connect the other end of the cable to your computer.
- Toggle the mode switch at the bottom of the keyboard to the center position (wired mode).
2.3 Bluetooth 5.0 Connection
- Switch the bottom mode toggle to Bluetooth mode.
- Long press FN + number key 1, 2, or 3 to start pairing. The indicator light will flash to support pairing of up to 3 devices.
- Press FN + numeric key 1, 2, or 3 to switch between paired devices.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
- Use the provided dust cover when the keyboard is not in use to prevent dust accumulation.
- For general cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth.
- To clean between keycaps, use a can of compressed air.
- For deeper cleaning, use the keycap puller to remove keycaps and clean the switch area.
4.2 Switch Replacement (Hot-Swappable)
The VGN S99 features hot-swappable switches, allowing for easy replacement without soldering. Use the provided 2-in-1 keycap puller to carefully remove keycaps and then the switch puller to remove the switch. Insert a new compatible 3-pin or 5-pin mechanical switch, ensuring the pins align correctly with the PCB sockets.
Caution: When replacing switches, ensure the keyboard is disconnected from power. Apply gentle, even pressure to avoid bending switch pins or damaging the PCB.
5. Troubleshooting
- Keyboard not responding: Check the connection mode switch (2.4G, Type-C, Bluetooth) at the bottom of the keyboard. Ensure the correct mode is selected for your connection type.
- Wireless connectivity issues: For 2.4G wireless, ensure the receiver is securely plugged into a USB port. For Bluetooth, ensure the keyboard is in pairing mode (FN + 1/2/3) and your device's Bluetooth is enabled and searching. Try re-pairing if issues persist.
- Input delay or lag: In wireless modes, ensure the keyboard is within range of the receiver/device and there are no significant obstructions. Other wireless devices might cause interference. The keyboard features SMARTSPEED ultra-low latency technology, but environmental factors can still affect performance.
