1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the VGN Dragonfly F2 Series Gaming Mouse. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your new gaming mouse. Please read it thoroughly to ensure optimal performance and a long lifespan for your device.

The VGN Dragonfly F2 Series offers two models: the F2 Promax and the F2 Ultra+. Both are designed for e-sports, featuring lightweight construction, high-performance sensors, and versatile connectivity options.

2. Safety Information

  • Do not expose the mouse to water or excessive moisture.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the mouse to strong impacts.
  • Keep the device away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the mouse, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.
  • Use only the provided charging cable and a compatible power source (e.g., a standard USB port or charger) to charge the mouse.
  • The battery is internal and not user-replaceable.

4. Product Overview

The VGN Dragonfly F2 Series mice feature a lightweight, non-porous structure and an ergonomic design suitable for both hands. Key components include:

  • Main Buttons: Left and Right click buttons.
  • Scroll Wheel: Metallic paint process roller with TTC dustproof gold encoder for precise scrolling.
  • Side Buttons: Two programmable side buttons.
  • DPI Button: For on-the-fly DPI adjustment.
  • Sensor: High-performance Pixart PAW3395 (Promax) or PAW3950 (Ultra+) flagship sensor.
  • Connectivity Switch: Located on the bottom of the mouse to switch between 2.4G Wireless, Bluetooth, and Wired modes.
  • PTFE Feet: 100% Teflon foot patches for smooth glide.

5. Setup

5.1. Charging the Mouse

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge your mouse. Connect the provided paracord cable to the USB-C port on the front of the mouse and the USB-A end to a powered USB port on your computer or a USB wall adapter.

  • The F2 Ultra+ version supports 3C fast charging technology, allowing for approximately 6 hours of use from a 1-minute charge.
  • The F2 Promax version does not support fast charging.

5.2. Connecting the Mouse

Your VGN Dragonfly F2 Series mouse supports three connection modes: 2.4G Wireless, Bluetooth, and Wired.

5.2.1. 2.4G Wireless Mode

  1. Insert the 8knano receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  2. Slide the switch on the bottom of the mouse to the '2.4G' position.
  3. The mouse should automatically connect. If not, press the pairing button (if available, refer to product diagram) or re-insert the receiver.

5.2.2. Bluetooth Mode

  1. Slide the switch on the bottom of the mouse to the 'Bluetooth' position.
  2. On your computer or device, go to Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
  3. Select 'VGN Dragonfly F2' (or similar name) from the list of available devices to pair.

5.2.3. Wired Mode

  1. Connect the paracord cable to the USB-C port on the mouse and the USB-A end to your computer.
  2. Slide the switch on the bottom of the mouse to the 'Wired' position.
  3. The mouse will function as a wired mouse and charge simultaneously.

5.3. Driver Installation

For full customization and advanced features, download and install the self-developed Vhub dual-ended driver (webpage/windows client) from the official VGN website (www.vgnlab.cn). This software supports on-board storage, editable mouse buttons, DPI adjustment, return rate, superb mode, game enhancement, cool light setting, and macro management.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. DPI Adjustment

Use the dedicated DPI button on the mouse to cycle through preset DPI levels. You can customize these levels and add more granular control using the Vhub software.

  • F2 Promax: DPI range 50-26000, overclocking up to 36000 DPI.
  • F2 Ultra+: DPI range 50-30000, overclocking up to 42000 DPI.

6.2. Polling Rate (Return Rate)

Both wired and wireless modes support an 8000Hz polling rate for ultra-low latency. The F2 Ultra+ version specifically supports 'Super god competitive firmware' for enhanced performance.

Kind Reminder: To ensure optimal experience with 8000Hz polling rate, your computer configuration should meet the following recommendations:

Intel Platform
  • CPU: i7 9700K and above
  • Graphics card: NVIDIA RTX 2060 and above
  • Memory: 16GB and above
AMD Platform
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X and above
  • Graphics card: AMD RX 5700XT and above
  • Memory: 16GB and above

Monitor: Screen refresh rate above 240Hz is recommended.

6.3. Customization

The Vhub software allows for extensive customization:

  • Button Assignment: Remap mouse buttons to various functions or macros.
  • DPI Settings: Fine-tune DPI levels and create multiple profiles.
  • Polling Rate: Adjust the polling rate to suit your preferences and system capabilities.
  • Macro Management: Create and assign complex macros.
  • Lighting Settings: Customize any available lighting effects (if applicable to your model).

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

  • Gently wipe the mouse surface with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild cleaning solution, then wipe dry immediately.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives, or solvents.
  • Clean the optical sensor area with a cotton swab if tracking issues occur.

7.2. Storage

  • Store the mouse in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity.

7.3. Replacing PTFE Feet

The mouse comes with a set of replacement 100% Teflon foot patches. If the existing feet show significant wear and tear, carefully peel them off and apply the new ones, ensuring the surface is clean and dry for optimal adhesion.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Mouse not responding: Ensure the mouse is charged and the connection mode (2.4G, Bluetooth, Wired) is correctly selected. Try re-pairing in wireless modes or reconnecting the cable.
  • Lag or stuttering: Check for interference in 2.4G wireless mode (other wireless devices). Ensure your computer meets the recommended specifications for 8000Hz polling rate. Update mouse drivers.
  • DPI not changing: Ensure the mouse is powered on and the DPI button is functioning. If using software, check DPI profiles.
  • Software not detecting mouse: Ensure the mouse is connected and powered on. Reinstall the Vhub driver software.
  • Battery life seems short: Ensure the mouse is fully charged. Note that the F2 Promax has an 800mAh battery and the F2 Ultra+ has a 500mAh battery. Fast charging is only supported on the F2 Ultra+.
