6.2 Installing a Soldering Tip

Ensure the soldering iron is off and cool before changing tips.

  1. Gently pull out the existing heating element/tip assembly from the main body.
  2. Select the desired soldering tip.
  3. Carefully insert the new heating element/tip assembly into the main body until it is securely seated.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Power On and Temperature Setting

  1. Press and hold the Power/Settings button to turn on the soldering iron. The digital display will illuminate.
  2. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the desired temperature. The iron supports 5-level temperature adjustment within the range of 260℃ - 420℃ (500℉ - 788℉).
  3. After setting the temperature, wait approximately 7 seconds for the iron to heat up to the set temperature. The digital display will show the real-time temperature.

7.4 Soldering Technique

  • Ensure the components to be soldered are clean and free of oxidation.
  • Apply a small amount of rosin/welding flux to the joint if necessary.
  • Touch the hot soldering iron tip to both the component lead and the PCB pad simultaneously to heat them.
  • Once heated, apply soldering wire to the joint, allowing it to flow evenly. Do not apply solder directly to the iron tip.
  • Remove the soldering wire, then remove the iron tip. Allow the joint to cool without disturbance.

7.5 Sleep Function

The soldering iron is equipped with a sleep function to conserve battery and prevent accidental overheating. If left inactive for 10 minutes, the iron will enter sleep mode, stopping the heating process. The sleep indicator light will be on.

To wake up the soldering iron and resume heating, simply press any button.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Tip Cleaning and Tinning

  • Regularly clean the soldering tip using the included cleaning sponge (dampened, not soaking wet) or a brass wire cleaner.
  • After cleaning, re-tin the tip by applying a small amount of fresh solder. This helps prevent oxidation and prolongs tip life.
  • Never file or sand the tip, as this can damage its protective plating.

8.2 Storage

When not in use, ensure the soldering iron is turned off and completely cooled. Store it in its protective case to prevent damage to the tip and body.

9. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Soldering iron not heating upLow battery; Not powered on; Faulty heating element/tipCharge the battery; Press Power button; Check tip installation or replace tip
Temperature display not workingLow battery; Internal faultCharge the battery; Contact support if issue persists
Solder not melting properlyTemperature too low; Oxidized tip; Insufficient contactIncrease temperature; Clean and re-tin tip; Ensure good contact with joint
Iron enters sleep mode too quicklyInactivity for 10 minutesThis is normal behavior. Press any button to resume heating.

10. User Tips

  • For delicate work, use the pointed tip and a lower temperature setting.
  • The knife head tip is excellent for drag soldering or removing components with multiple pins.
  • Always ensure your work area is well-lit; the built-in work light is helpful, but additional lighting can improve precision.
  • Practice on scrap electronics before working on important projects to get a feel for the iron's heat and response.
