2. Setup

2.1 Initial Winding

Your RUIGE mechanical watch is powered by an automatic self-winding movement. Before wearing it for the first time, or if the watch has stopped due to inactivity, it needs to be manually wound. To do this:

  1. Ensure the crown is in its normal, pushed-in position (Position 0).
  2. Turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will initiate the movement and build up a power reserve.
  3. Once wound, the watch will continue to operate as long as it is worn regularly, as wrist movements will keep the automatic mechanism charged.

2.2 Setting the Time

To set the time on your watch:

  1. Pull the crown out to Position 1 (the outermost position).
  2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
  3. Once the time is set, push the crown back into Position 0 to secure it and restart the watch movement.

3. Operating Your Watch

3.1 Automatic Movement

The watch features an automatic self-winding mechanical movement. This means it is powered by the natural motion of your wrist. When worn daily, the watch will continuously wind itself, eliminating the need for batteries. If the watch is not worn for an extended period (typically 36-48 hours), the power reserve will deplete, and the watch will stop. Simply follow the initial winding steps to restart it.

3.2 Luminous Feature

The watch hands and hour markers are coated with a luminous material. After exposure to light, these elements will glow in the dark, allowing for easy readability in low-light conditions. The intensity and duration of the glow depend on the exposure time and intensity of the light source.

3.3 Water Resistance

This watch is rated for 3 Bar (30 meters) water resistance. This means it is suitable for daily use and can withstand splashes, rain, and brief immersion in water, such as washing hands or face. It is not recommended for swimming, diving, or showering, as prolonged exposure to water or high-pressure water jets can compromise the seals.

4. Maintenance

Proper care will help maintain the appearance and performance of your RUIGE watch.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and strap regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying.
  • Avoid Chemicals: Do not expose the watch to harsh chemicals, solvents, or detergents, as these can damage the case, strap, or seals.
  • Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) or sudden temperature changes, which can affect the movement and water resistance.
  • Magnetic Fields: Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, certain electronic devices), as magnetism can affect the accuracy of mechanical movements.
  • Impact: While durable, avoid dropping the watch or subjecting it to strong impacts.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch has stopped: This is common for automatic mechanical watches if not worn for an extended period. Manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise 30-40 times. If the issue persists after regular wear, consult a professional.
  • Time is inaccurate: Mechanical watches may have slight variations in accuracy. If the watch is consistently running too fast or too slow, it might be magnetized or require regulation. Keep it away from strong magnetic fields. If the problem continues, professional servicing may be needed.
  • Condensation under the crystal: If you notice condensation, it indicates a breach in the watch's water resistance. Avoid further water exposure and have the watch inspected by a professional immediately to prevent damage to the movement.
