Upon unpacking, please ensure all items listed below are present:

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Align the battery with the compartment on the back of the radio and slide it into place until it clicks securely.
  3. To charge, connect the Type-C charging cable directly to the radio or place the radio in the provided base charger.
  4. Connect the charging cable/base charger to a suitable USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, car charger).
  5. The charging indicator on the radio or base charger will show the charging status.

3.2 Antenna Attachment

  1. Select the appropriate antenna (standard or 38CM) for your communication range and scenario.
  2. Screw the antenna clockwise onto the SMA-Female connector on top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

3.3 Programming (Optional)

The DM-168 supports Type-C programming. To customize channels, contacts, and other advanced settings:

  1. Connect the radio to your computer using the Type-C charging cable.
  2. Obtain the necessary programming software (contact customer service if needed).
  3. Follow the software instructions to configure your radio settings.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until you hear a click and the screen illuminates.
  • Power Off: Rotate the Power/Volume knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click and the screen turns off.

4.2 Mode Selection (Digital/Analog)

The DM-168 supports both digital (DMR) and analog modes. The current mode is typically displayed on the 1.77-inch color screen. Refer to your programmed settings or the radio's menu for switching between modes.

4.3 Channel Selection

Use the channel selector knob or the keypad to navigate through the 4000 available channels. The selected channel will be displayed on the screen.

4.4 Adjusting Power Levels

The radio offers four power levels. These can typically be adjusted via the radio's menu or programmed settings. The available power levels are:

  • VHF: 0.2W, 1W, 2.5W, 5W
  • UHF: 0.2W, 0.5W, 2.5W, 4.5W

4.5 SMS Function

The DM-168 supports text messaging. To send or receive SMS messages, navigate to the SMS menu on the radio. This feature is designed for timely information transmission and is not ideal for voice communication in noisy environments.

4.6 AES256 Encryption

For secure communications, enable AES256 encryption through the radio's menu or programming software. This feature helps protect your conversations from unauthorized listening.

4.7 Other Functions

  • VOX: Voice-activated transmission allows hands-free operation.
  • FM Radio: Tune into FM broadcast stations.

5. Maintenance
