1. Product Overview

The SKYDANCE V1-L(WT) and V1-L are advanced LED controllers designed for single-color LED lighting systems, offering versatile control options including RF 2.4G wireless, push-dim functionality, and smart APP integration for the V1-L(WT) model.

V1-L: Single Color LED Controller (RF Only)

V1-L(WT): WiFi & RF LED Controller (Tuya Smart APP)

The V1-L(WT) model combines all features of the V1-L with added WiFi capabilities:

  • Tuya smart APP cloud control, supporting ON/OFF, brightness adjustment, delay ON/OFF, timer functions, and scene editing.
  • Voice control compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Tmall Genie, and Xiaodu voice assistants.
  • Can also function as a WiFi-RF converter, allowing the Tuya smart APP to control one or more RF LED controllers or RF LED dimming drivers synchronously.
  • Output PWM frequency selectable: 500Hz, 2kHz, 8kHz, or 16kHz.
  • Logarithmic or linear dimming curve selectable.

3. Installation & Wiring

3.2 Wire Preparation

  • The wiring can be solid or stranded with a cross-sectional area of 0.5 to 2 mm².
  • A conventional 1mm² wire can withstand 10A output current.
  • When installing, ensure the terminals are tightened. Loose connections can lead to high contact point resistance, causing terminals to burn due to heat, especially under full load for extended periods.
  • Note: The output power of a constant voltage power supply should be at least 1.2 times that of the output load (LED strip) to prevent automatic flickering or shaking of the light.

3.4 Installation Precautions

  1. Do not stack products; maintain a distance of at least 20cm to ensure proper heat dissipation and prevent shortening the product's lifespan.
  2. Do not install the product close to a switching power supply. Maintain an interval of at least 20cm to avoid radiation interference from the switching power supply.
  3. The installation height should be at least 1m from the floor to prevent shortening the remote control distance due to a weak reception signal.
  4. Do not place the product close to or cover it with metal objects. Maintain an interval of at least 20cm to avoid signal attenuation and shorten the remote distance.
  5. Avoid installation at wall corners or beam corners, maintaining an interval of at least 20cm to avoid signal interference.

4. Operation

4.1 Push Switch Control

The RF dimmer can be connected with an external push switch to control ON/OFF and dimming functions:

  • Short press: Turns the light ON or OFF.
  • Long press (1-6 seconds): Initiates stepless dimming. With every subsequent long press, the light level will dim in the opposite direction (e.g., if it was dimming up, it will dim down).
  • Note for multiple V1-L(WT) synchronization: When using a push switch to synchronize control of multiple V1-L(WT) units, long press the push switch for 10 seconds to synchronize all dimmers to their highest brightness before controlling.

4.2 Tuya Smart APP Network Connection (V1-L(WT) Only)

  1. Download APP: Download the corresponding Tuya Smart / Smart Life APP based on your region.
  2. Network Connection: Press and hold the Match key on the controller for 5 seconds, or quickly press the Match key twice. This clears any previous network connection and enters WiFi configuration mode, indicated by the LED indicator flashing rapidly.
  3. APP Device Discovery: If the Tuya Smart / Smart Life APP network connection is successful, the LED indicator will stop flashing. You should then be able to find the DIM device within the APP.
  4. Bluetooth Control (Fallback): If the network connection is poor when controlling the light fixture with the Tuya Smart/Smart Life APP, you can control the light fixture via Bluetooth within its control range. Note: The fixture cannot be directly controlled by Bluetooth without prior WiFi configuration.
  5. APP Interface: Within the APP interface, touch the brightness slide to adjust the brightness. You can also edit 1-4 scenes for static or dynamic lighting modes.

4.3 Remote Control Ways

The RF 2.4GHz wireless technology allows matching with various Skydance control devices:

  • Handheld remotes
  • Wall touch panel remotes
  • iOS or Android smartphones (via WiFi-Relay converter for V1-L, or directly for V1-L(WT) with Tuya APP)

5. Matching and Pairing

5.1 Matching with RF Remote Control (V1-L)

End users can choose between two methods to match or delete remote controls:

Method 1: Use the Controller's Match Key

  • Match: Short press the Match key on the controller. Immediately after, press the ON/OFF key (for a single zone remote) or a zone key (for a multiple zone remote) on the remote. The LED indicator will flash a few times, indicating successful matching.
  • Delete: Press and hold the Match key on the controller for 5 seconds. The LED indicator will flash a few times, indicating that all matched remotes have been deleted.

Method 2: Use Power Restart

  • Match: Switch off the power to the controller, then switch it back on. Immediately after power-on, short press the ON/OFF key (for a single zone remote) or a zone key (for a multiple zone remote) 3 times on the remote. The light will blink 3 times, indicating successful matching.
  • Delete: Switch off the power to the controller, then switch it back on. Immediately after power-on, short press the ON/OFF key (for a single zone remote) or a zone key (for a multiple zone remote) 5 times on the remote. The light will blink 5 times, indicating that all matched remotes have been deleted.

5.2 V1-L(WT) as WiFi-RF Converter to Match RF LED Controller or Dimming Driver

When using the V1-L(WT) as a WiFi-RF converter, you can match or delete RF devices using the Tuya Smart APP:

Method 1: Use the Controller's Match Key

  • Match: Short press the Match key on the V1-L(WT) controller. Immediately after, press the ON/OFF key on the Tuya Smart APP. The LED indicator will flash a few times, indicating successful matching.
  • Delete: Press and hold the Match key on the V1-L(WT) controller for 5 seconds. The LED indicator will flash a few times, indicating that the match was deleted.

Method 2: Use Power Restart

  • Match: Switch off the power to the V1-L(WT) controller, then switch it back on. Immediately after power-on, short press the ON/OFF key 3 times on the Tuya Smart APP. The light will blink 3 times, indicating successful matching.
  • Delete: Switch off the power to the V1-L(WT) controller, then switch it back on. Immediately after power-on, short press the ON/OFF key 5 times on the Tuya Smart APP. The light will blink 5 times, indicating that the match was deleted.

5.3 Dimming Curve Selection

You can set either a linear or logarithmic dimming curve using DIP switch 3 on the controller.

5.4 WiFi Network Notes (V1-L(WT) Only)

  • The stated control distance is measured in a spacious, obstacle-free environment. Actual test distance may vary.
  • Ensure your WiFi router operates on the 2.4G band; the 5G band is not supported. Do not hide your router network (SSID).
  • Keep the distance between the devices and the router close, and ensure strong WiFi signals for optimal performance.

6. Troubleshooting

This section provides general troubleshooting tips. For specific issues, refer to the relevant operation sections.

  • No Power: Check all wiring connections, ensuring they are secure and correctly polarized. Verify the power supply is providing the correct voltage (12-48VDC).
  • No Dimming/Control: Ensure the remote control is properly matched to the controller (refer to Section 5). For V1-L(WT), verify the Tuya Smart APP connection and WiFi signal strength. Check if the push switch is functioning correctly.
  • Flickering Lights: Ensure the power supply output is at least 1.2 times the load of the LED strip. Check for loose wiring connections.
  • Reduced Remote Distance: Ensure the controller is not stacked or covered by metal objects. Maintain at least 20cm clearance from other devices and metal. Check installation height (should be >= 1m from floor).
  • WiFi Connection Issues (V1-L(WT)): Confirm your router is on the 2.4G band and not hidden. Keep the controller close to the router. Re-attempt the network connection steps (Section 4.2).
  • Over-heat/Over-load/Short Circuit: The controller has built-in protection and should recover automatically. If issues persist, check the load connected to the controller to ensure it does not exceed the maximum output power/current.

7. Maintenance

The SKYDANCE LED Controller is designed for low maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure longevity:

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating. Adhere to the installation precautions regarding spacing.
  • Avoid exposing the device to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures outside its operational range (-20°C to +55°C).
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself, as this may void the warranty and pose safety risks.
