2. Safety Information

6. Setup Instructions

6.1 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the device. Connect the provided power adapter to the DC IN port on the device and plug it into a wall outlet. The 'CHG' indicator will light up during charging and turn off when fully charged.

6.2 Connecting to Satellite Dish (DVB-S/S2)

  1. Ensure the device is powered off.
  2. Connect the LNB cable from your satellite dish to the 'LNB IN' port on the top of the WS-6980.
  3. Power on the device.

6.3 Connecting to Terrestrial/Cable Antenna (DVB-T/T2/C)

  1. Ensure the device is powered off.
  2. Connect your terrestrial or cable antenna cable to the 'ANT IN' port on the top of the WS-6980.
  3. Power on the device.

6.4 Connecting to an External Display (Optional)

You can connect the WS-6980 to a larger screen for better viewing:

  • HDMI: Use an HDMI cable to connect the 'HDMI OUT' port on the device to your TV or monitor's HDMI input.
  • AV: Use the provided AV cable to connect the 'AV OUT' port (if available, typically via a multi-port adapter) to your TV's AV input.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Powering On/Off

Toggle the power switch located on the top panel to turn the device on or off.

From the main menu, select the desired mode (DVB-S/S2, DVB-T/T2, or DVB-C). You can then:

  • Scan Modes: Perform Auto, Manual, or NIT scans (for DVB-S/S2) or Blind scans (for DVB-S/S2/C) to find channels.
  • Signal Strength/Quality: The screen will display real-time signal strength and quality indicators. Adjust your antenna/dish until optimal levels are achieved. The 'LOCK' indicator will illuminate when a signal is locked.
  • Spectrum Analyzer: Use this feature to visualize the signal spectrum, aiding in identifying interference or optimizing signal reception.
  • Constellation Analyzer: Provides a visual representation of the signal's modulation, useful for advanced signal diagnostics.
  • Multiple CH/TP Detection: Allows for detection and analysis of multiple channels or transponders.

7.4 DiSEqC Control

The device supports DiSEqC 1.0/1.1/1.2 and 0/22kHz Tone for controlling multi-LNB systems or motorized dishes. Configure these settings in the satellite setup menu as required by your installation.

7.5 Optical Power Detection

The WS-6980 includes optical power detection capabilities.   • Always ensure the correct LNB type and frequency settings are selected in the device's menu for accurate satellite signal detection.
  • Keep the firmware updated to ensure optimal performance and access to new features or bug fixes.
