3. Setup

3.1 Mounting the Monitor

The FW1018SPV1 monitor can be mounted using its thread sockets located on the left, right, and bottom sides. The included hot shoe mount can be used to attach the monitor to a camera or rig.

3.2 Powering the Monitor

The monitor offers flexible power options:

  • DC 7-24V Input: Connect the included power adapter (if applicable) to the DC 12V IN port on the rear panel.
  • 4-pin XLR Connector: For professional power solutions.
  • Battery Plate: The monitor supports F970 battery plates (battery not included, purchase separately). Ensure the battery plate is securely attached to the rear of the monitor.

3.3 Connecting Video and Audio Sources

The monitor provides a variety of input and output ports:

  • Inputs: 3G-SDI (x1), HDMI (x1), YPbPr (x1), Video (x1), Audio (L/R) (x2), Tally (DB-9).

3.4 Attaching the Sun Shade

For outdoor use or bright environments, attach the portable sun shade to the monitor to improve visibility and reduce glare.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Locate the ON/OFF switch on the rear panel of the monitor. Flip the switch to 'ON' to power on the device. Flip to 'OFF' to power it down.

4.2 Function Buttons and Controls

The front panel features several function buttons and control knobs for easy operation:

  • F1-F6 Buttons: Customizable function buttons for quick access to frequently used features.
  • VIDEO, YPbPr, HDMI, SDI Buttons: Select the desired input source.
  • MENU Button: Access the main menu for settings adjustments.

4.3 Display Features

4.4 Loading Custom 3D LUTs

The monitor supports loading custom 3D LUTs (Look Up Tables) to assist with color calibration and workflow optimization. Up to 32 custom LUTs can be imported.

  1. Store your .cube LUT files in the root directory of a USB flash drive. A single file must not exceed 7.9MB and supports LUT_3D_SIZE of 16, 17, 32, 33, 64, 65.
  2. Remove the battery plate from the rear of the monitor to access the mini USB interface.
  3. Connect the USB flash drive to the monitor using a mini USB to USB cable (not included).
  4. Navigate to the LUT menu in the monitor's settings and select the option to import LUT files.

4.5 Waveform Monitoring

Utilize the accurate waveform monitoring feature to analyze video signals, ensuring proper exposure and color balance. Access this feature through the menu or a customizable function button.

4.6 Tally Light Function

The monitor is equipped with a 3-color Tally light (Red, Green, Yellow) on the front panel. This light is controlled via the DB-9 port on the rear panel, indicating camera status (e.g., recording, standby).

5. Maintenance

  • No Power: Ensure the power switch is ON. Check all power connections (DC adapter or battery). Verify the power source is providing adequate voltage (DC 7-24V).
  • No Video Signal: Confirm the correct input source is selected (HDMI, SDI, YPbPr, Video). Check all video cables for secure connections and ensure they are not damaged. Verify the output settings of your camera/source match the monitor's supported formats.
  • Image Issues (Distorted/No Color): Check cable connections. Ensure the monitor's display settings (color temperature, contrast, brightness) are correctly configured. If using LUTs, ensure the correct LUT is applied or temporarily disable it to diagnose.
  • Buttons Unresponsive: Power cycle the monitor. If the issue persists, contact support.
