  • Connect the OBD Interface (OBD Power Cable is Required): This method is easier to operate and also supports parking monitoring. Plug the Type-C connector of the OBD power cable into the Dash Cam and the other end into the vehicle's OBD port. The OBD power cable needs to be purchased separately.

5. Function Introduction

5.1 Video Function

The DDPAI A400 provides various video functionalities:

  • Preview Video: View live footage directly on the device screen or through the DDPAI App. In the app, tap the landscape preview icon or rotate your phone horizontally for full-screen view.
  • Playback Video: In the app's real-time preview interface, drag the progress bar to select a time, then tap the thumbnail or wait 5 seconds for playback. Different colors on the timeline indicate emergency events (red) or parking monitoring (yellow).
  • Download Video:
Method 1: From the playback interface, drag the progress bar to the desired time, tap the download icon, then "Complete" to save to your local album.
Method 2: In the "Device" interface, long-press the video/photo file to enter selection mode, select files, and tap "Download".

Note: Downloaded videos are saved to your phone's local album and can be shared or deleted from there. Each video segment is typically 5 seconds to 3 minutes long.

5.2 Taking Photos

The dash cam supports two modes for taking photos:

  • Collision Sensing Photography: The dash cam automatically takes pictures when it detects a collision or emergency braking.
  • Manual Photography: In the preview interface, tap the camera icon to take a photo.

Note: Collision-sensing and voice-triggered photos generate associated videos (default 10 seconds) and are saved in the "Snap"/"Emergency" tab of the "Device Album".

5.3 Parking Monitoring

When an intelligent hardwire kit is used, the dash cam can enter parking monitoring mode automatically after the vehicle is turned off. This feature requires an Intelligent Hardwire Kit (purchased separately).

  • Time-Lapse Recording Mode: Records at 1 frame per second, saving storage while capturing smooth footage. If a collision occurs, it takes a photo and records a short video, then returns to time-lapse.
  • Normal Video Recording: Maintains normal recording after the car is turned off.
  • Sleep Mode: The device enters sleep mode after the vehicle is turned off. If a collision is detected, it captures a photo and a 30-second video, then returns to sleep. If low voltage is detected, the device shuts down.

5.4 Collision Detection & Locked Videos

In working mode, the dash cam generates an emergency photo and video upon detecting a collision or sudden braking. These files are protected from loop recording overwrites.

  • Setting Camera Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity (High, Medium-high, Medium, Medium-low, Low, Off, Custom) in the app under "Device Settings" > "Adjust collision sensitivity". Higher sensitivity means easier triggering of recordings.
  • Set the Duration of Related Videos: The default is 10 seconds. Options include 10s, 20s, and 30s, determining the length of video recorded before and after a collision.

5.5 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)

The ADAS feature provides real-time alerts for a safer driving experience.

  • Enable ADAS Function: In the DDPAI App, go to "Device Settings" and turn on the "Advanced Driver Assistance System" switch.
  • Set Sensitivity of ADAS: Configure the sensitivity for alerts like vehicle ahead movement and fatigue driving.
  • Fatigue Driving Voice Alert: Enable this in the app to receive voice prompts reminding you to rest during long drives.

  • 200 Video: Contains regular and time-lapse recordings. Time-lapse files are prefixed with "S".
  • 201 Photo: Includes voice-triggered and collision-triggered photos. Front camera snapshots are prefixed with "N", while collision-triggered photos are prefixed with "G".
