6. Setup and Installation

The Intelamp solar light is designed for easy, self-contained installation. No complex wiring is required.

6.1 Preparation

  • Remove all protective films from the solar light casing and solar panel.
  • Ensure the solar panel is unobstructed and free of stains for optimal charging.
  • Choose a well-lit, unobstructed location for installation. Recommended installation height is 1.8-2.5 meters (approximately 6-8 feet).

6.2 Mounting Options

The solar light can be installed using either screws for hard surfaces or tie straps for poles/trees.

6.3 Adjusting the Light Heads and Solar Panel

The light features an adjustable and flexible design to maximize light coverage and solar charging efficiency.

  • The middle lamp head can be adjusted vertically, up and down by 45 degrees.
  • The side lamp heads can be adjusted horizontally from left to right by up to 90 degrees.
  • The solar panel can be adjusted vertically up and down by 60 degrees. The optimum tilt angle is usually 20 degrees to make the most efficient use of available sunlight and to allow rainwater to remove any dust build-up efficiently.

7. Operation

7.1 Initial Charging

No manual charging is required. Place the light fixture in direct sunlight; the solar panel will automatically absorb sunlight and store electrical energy. 6-8 hours of sufficient sunlight can provide 8-12 hours of nighttime lighting (actual duration depends on weather and sunlight intensity).

The solar light charges in 4 hours of sunlight for up to 24 hours of lighting.

7.2 Power On and Mode Selection

When you receive the solar motion sensor lights, please pay attention to the following steps:

  1. Power On: Locate the power switch on the side/bottom of the light fixture and switch it to the "ON" position to turn it on. Some models support a light-controlled mode; switch it to the "Auto" position, and the light fixture will automatically turn on after dark and automatically turn off at dawn.
  2. Mode Selection: After turning on, cover the solar panel (to simulate darkness) and press the "MODE" button to cycle through the desired lighting modes. The light has 3 modes:
  • Mode 1 (Sensor Mode - Low + High Brightness): Lights set on low brightness at all times and will illuminate brightly when motion sensor is activated.
  • Mode 2 (Sensor Mode - Off + High Brightness): Lights will be off and will illuminate brightly when motion sensor is activated. The light automatically turns off after a 30-second delay when no one is around, making it more energy-efficient.
  • Mode 3 (ON Mode - Constant Low Brightness): Lights will be on low light throughout the night, and the motion sensor is inactivated.

7.3 Motion Detection

The dual motion sensors provide a 180-degree detection angle with an operation range of 25ft/7.6m * 2. This ensures wide coverage and quick response to movement.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or debris. A clean solar panel ensures maximum charging efficiency.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the light fixture and mounting hardware for any signs of wear, damage, or looseness. Tighten screws if necessary.
  • Battery Care: The integrated lithium battery has a service life of more than 5 years. No user maintenance is required for the battery.
  • Winter Care: In areas with heavy snow, ensure the solar panel is clear of snow to allow for charging.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Light does not turn on at night:
    • Ensure the power switch is in the "ON" or "Auto" position.
    • Verify the solar panel is receiving direct sunlight for 6-8 hours daily. Relocate if necessary.
    • Check if the solar panel is dirty or obstructed. Clean it if needed.
    • The battery might be low. Allow it to charge for a full day in direct sunlight.
  • Motion sensor not working:
    • Ensure the light is in a motion-sensing mode (Mode 1 or Mode 2).
    • Check for obstructions blocking the sensor's view.
    • Test the sensor by walking within its detection range.
  • Light is dim or only stays on for a short time:
    • The battery may not be fully charged due to insufficient sunlight. Ensure the solar panel gets adequate direct sun exposure.
    • Weather conditions (cloudy/rainy days) can affect charging.
    • The solar panel might be dirty. Clean it.

10. User Tips

  • For best performance, install the solar light in a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day.
  • Adjust the solar panel to face the sun directly for maximum charging efficiency, especially during winter months.
  • Experiment with the different lighting modes to find the one that best suits your needs for security and energy saving.
  • Consider using the screw fixation for permanent installations on walls or solid structures, and cable ties for temporary or tree-mounted setups.
