4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
- Exterior: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the unit. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Disc Tray: Keep the disc tray clean and free of dust. Do not use compressed air directly into the tray mechanism.
- Optical Lens: Do not attempt to clean the optical lens yourself. If disc reading issues occur, consult a qualified service technician.
4.2 Vacuum Tube Care
The CDT-17A MK2 uses vacuum tubes for its audio output stage. These tubes have a finite lifespan and may need replacement over time. If you notice a degradation in sound quality or unusual noise, the tubes may need to be replaced. Consult your dealer or a qualified technician for tube replacement.

5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your CDT-17A MK2 CD player, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Power:
— Check if the power cable is securely connected to both the unit and the wall outlet.
— Ensure the power switch on the rear panel is in the 'ON' position. - No Sound Output:
— Verify that the audio cables (RCA or XLR) are correctly connected between the CD player and your amplifier.
— Check the input selection on your amplifier to ensure it's set to the correct input source.
— For Diamond Edition using digital inputs, ensure the correct input source is selected on the CD player and the external device is sending audio. - Disc Not Playing / Disc Read Error:
— Ensure the CD is clean and free of scratches or smudges. Wipe gently with a soft cloth from the center outwards.
— Make sure the disc is placed correctly in the tray with the label side up.
— Try a different CD to rule out a faulty disc.
— If the problem persists, the optical pickup may require servicing. - Distorted or Poor Sound Quality:
— Check all cable connections for looseness or damage.
— Ensure the vacuum tubes are properly seated. If tubes are old, they may need replacement.
— Verify that the volume levels on both the CD player (if applicable) and amplifier are set appropriately.
If the problem cannot be resolved with the above steps, please contact your dealer or a qualified service technician.
