4. Setup

4.1. Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge the X1 main unit.

  1. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the charging port on the X1 main unit.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The indicator light will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, blue for fully charged).
  4. A full charge takes approximately 1.5-2 hours.

4.2. Installing on Helmet

The X1 headset is designed for universal compatibility with most riding helmets. Two types of brackets are provided for installation:

  1. Choose your bracket:
    • Metal Bracket: Ideal for helmets with a suitable edge to clamp onto.
    • 3M Sticker Bracket: Suitable for helmets where clamping is not feasible, providing a strong adhesive mount.
  2. Mount the main unit: Securely attach the X1 main unit to the chosen bracket on the side of your helmet.
  3. Install Speakers: Place the 40mm Hi-Fi speakers inside the helmet's ear pockets. Use the provided speaker pads for comfort and optimal sound positioning.
  4. Install Microphone:
    • Boom Microphone: Recommended for open-face or modular helmets, position it close to your mouth.
    • Button Microphone: Suitable for full-face helmets, attach it to the inside of the chin bar.
  5. Route the speaker and microphone cables neatly within the helmet lining to avoid obstruction.

4.3. Bluetooth Pairing with Mobile Phone

The X1 uses Bluetooth 5.3 for a fast and stable connection.

  1. Ensure the X1 headset is turned off.
  2. Press and hold the main function button on the X1 until the indicator light flashes rapidly (e.g., red and blue alternately), indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your mobile phone, go to Bluetooth settings and search for available devices.
  4. Select "XGP X1" from the list of devices.
  5. Once connected, the indicator light on the X1 will change (e.g., slow blue flashes).

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press and hold the main function button for approximately 3 seconds until you hear a prompt and the indicator light turns on.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the main function button for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a prompt and the indicator light turns off.

5.2. Music Playback

Once connected to your mobile phone via Bluetooth, you can control music playback directly from your phone or using the X1's controls (refer to the quick start guide for specific button functions):

  • Play/Pause: Short press the main function button.
  • Next Track: Short press the '+' button.
  • Previous Track: Short press the '-' button.
  • Volume Up: Long press the '+' button.
  • Volume Down: Long press the '-' button.

5.3. Call Management

  • Auto-answer Incoming Call: The X1 is configured to automatically answer incoming calls after a few rings for convenience and safety.
  • Manual Answer/End Call: Short press the main function button to answer or end a call.
  • Reject Call: Long press the main function button to reject an incoming call.

5.4. Voice Control (Siri/Google Assistant)

Activate your phone's voice assistant (Siri or Google Assistant) with a single button press:

  • Activate Voice Assistant: Double-press the main function button.
  • Once activated, you can use voice commands for GPS navigation, music selection, making calls, and more, without taking your hands off the handlebars.

5.5. Connecting Two Mobile Phones

The X1 headset supports connecting to two mobile phones or Bluetooth devices simultaneously:

  1. Pair the first phone following the steps in Section 4.3.
  2. After the first phone is connected, put the X1 back into pairing mode (refer to the quick start guide for specific steps, usually a long press of a different button or a specific combination).
  3. Pair the second phone following the same steps as for the first phone.
  4. Once both phones are paired, the X1 will manage connections, allowing you to receive calls from either device.

5.6. Intercom Function

The XGP X1 supports intercom functionality, allowing two X1 units to connect directly for rider-to-rider communication.

  1. Ensure both X1 units are powered on and not connected to any other Bluetooth devices.
  2. Initiate intercom pairing mode on both units (refer to the quick start guide for specific button presses, typically a long press of a dedicated intercom button or a combination).
  3. The units will search for each other and automatically connect.
  4. Once connected, you can communicate directly with the other rider.

6. Maintenance

  • Waterproofing: The X1 headset has an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against dust and can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It is designed to resist rainwater during cycling. However, avoid prolonged submersion or high-pressure water jets.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the main unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure all ports are dry before charging.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device won't turn on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a power source and try again.
  • Cannot pair with phone:

    • Turn off and on your phone's Bluetooth.
    • Forget the device from your phone's Bluetooth list and try pairing again.
    • Ensure the X1 is not already connected to another device.
  • No sound or poor sound quality:

  • Intercom not connecting:
