3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully to install your liquid CPU cooler. Refer to your motherboard manual for specific header locations.

  1. Prepare the CPU: Ensure your CPU is properly seated in its socket. If thermal paste is not pre-applied to the cold plate, apply a small pea-sized amount to the center of your CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS).
  2. Install Mounting Hardware: Attach the appropriate backplate and standoffs to your motherboard according to your CPU socket type (Intel or AMD).
  3. Mount the Radiator: Secure the radiator to an available 360mm fan mount in your PC case using the provided screws. Common locations include the top or front of the case.
  4. Install Fans: Attach the three 120mm ARGB PWM fans to the radiator using the longer fan screws. Ensure the fan airflow direction is optimal for your case's cooling setup (typically pushing air through the radiator and out of the case, or pulling air in).
  5. Mount the Pump/Cold Plate: Carefully align the pump/cold plate assembly over your CPU, ensuring the mounting holes match the standoffs. Secure it with the provided thumb screws or nuts until snug. Do not overtighten.
  6. Connect Cables:
    • Fan Power: Connect the 4-pin PWM cables from each fan to an available fan header on your motherboard or a fan hub. If using a fan hub, connect the hub to a motherboard fan header (e.g., CPU_FAN or SYS_FAN).
    • Pump Power: Connect the 3-pin pump power cable to your motherboard's dedicated AIO_PUMP header or CPU_FAN header.
    • ARGB Lighting: Connect the 3-pin ARGB cables from the fans and the pump to an ARGB controller or directly to your motherboard's 5V 3-pin ARGB header. Ensure you are connecting to a 5V ARGB header, not a 12V RGB header, to prevent damage.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the Darkflash Aquarumic DL-360 ARGB cooler operates automatically. The fans and pump will adjust their speed based on CPU temperature, controlled by your motherboard's BIOS settings or dedicated software.

  • Fan Speed Control: Access your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings or use the manufacturer's fan control software to adjust fan curves for optimal balance between cooling performance and noise levels.
  • ARGB Lighting Control: The Addressable RGB lighting can be controlled via your motherboard's ARGB software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, ASRock Polychrome Sync) if connected to a compatible 5V 3-pin ARGB header. This allows for synchronization with other ARGB components and customization of lighting effects.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your liquid cooler.

  • Dust Cleaning: Periodically clean the radiator fins and fan blades to prevent dust buildup, which can impede airflow and reduce cooling efficiency. Use compressed air or a soft brush.
  • Inspect Tubing: Occasionally check the tubing for any signs of kinks, damage, or leaks. While AIOs are sealed systems, visual inspection is good practice.
  • Fan Inspection: Ensure fans are spinning freely and quietly. Replace any fans that become excessively noisy or stop working.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your cooler, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
CPU Overheating Incorrect installation, insufficient thermal paste, pump not running, fans not spinning, dust buildup. Re-seat cold plate, check thermal paste, ensure pump and fan cables are connected correctly, clean radiator/fans, check BIOS settings for fan/pump speed.
Fans not spinning Loose or incorrect fan cable connection, fan header disabled in BIOS, faulty fan. Verify fan connections to motherboard/hub, check BIOS settings, test fans individually if possible.
No ARGB lighting Loose or incorrect ARGB cable connection, connected to 12V RGB header, motherboard ARGB software issue, faulty ARGB component. Ensure ARGB cables are securely connected to a 5V 3-pin ARGB header, check motherboard software, restart PC.
Pump noise Air bubbles in the loop, pump running at maximum speed. Orient radiator to ensure pump is not the highest point in the loop, adjust pump speed in BIOS if possible.

9. User Tips

  • Cable Management: Take time to route all fan and ARGB cables neatly to improve airflow and aesthetics inside your PC case.
  • BIOS Updates: Ensure your motherboard's BIOS is up to date, especially for newer CPU sockets like LGA1700 or AM5, to ensure proper fan and pump control.
  • Software Control: Utilize your motherboard's dedicated software for fine-tuning fan curves and customizing ARGB lighting effects to match your preferences.
  • Radiator Placement: Consider mounting the radiator at the top of your case to ensure the pump is not the highest point in the loop, which can help prevent air bubbles from accumulating in the pump and causing noise or reduced performance.
