Setup and Connection

The ONIKUMA MT706 keyboard supports three connection modes: Wired, 2.4G Wireless, and Bluetooth.

  1. Wired Mode

    Connect the keyboard to your computer using the provided Type-C USB cable. The keyboard will be automatically recognized and ready for use. This mode also charges the keyboard's internal battery.

  2. 2.4G Wireless Mode

    Locate the 2.4G USB receiver, typically stored in a hidden compartment on the keyboard's underside. Insert the receiver into an available USB port on your computer. Use the switch on the side of the keyboard to select '2.4G' mode. The keyboard should connect automatically.

  3. Bluetooth Mode

    Use the switch on the side of the keyboard to select 'BT' mode. On your device (computer, laptop, tablet), go to Bluetooth settings and search for new devices. Select 'ONIKUMA MT706' from the list to pair. The keyboard supports Windows 7/8/9/10/11 and Mac operating systems.

Charging the Keyboard

The keyboard is equipped with a 4000mAh battery. Connect the keyboard via the Type-C USB cable to a power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter) to charge. A full charge takes approximately 5 hours. The battery life is about 20 hours with lights on and up to 600 hours with lights off.

Operating Instructions

RGB Lighting Effects

The MT706 features over 1600 customizable RGB lighting effects. Use the following FN+ key combinations to control the lighting:

  • FN + \ |: Switch the color of the keyboard backlight.
  • FN + Enter: Switch the lighting effect of the keyboard backlight.
  • FN + Shift_R: Switch the lighting effect of the keyboard logo.
  • FN + Spacebar: Check the battery level.
  • FN + T: Turn the keyboard backlight on/off.
  • FN + WIN-L: Lock the WIN key.
  • FN + ←: Speed up the lighting effect.
  • FN + →: Slow down the lighting effect.
  • FN + ↑: Increase the brightness of the light.
  • FN + ↓: Decrease the brightness of the light.

Multi-functional Knob

The knob located on the top right of the keyboard provides quick access to volume control and mute functions:

  • Rotate Left: Reduce the volume.
  • Rotate Right: Increase the volume.
  • Press Down: Turn mute on/off.

Macro Definition Programming

The keyboard supports macro definition programming, allowing you to customize key functions and create complex sequences for gaming or productivity. Refer to the official ONIKUMA website or software for detailed instructions on macro setup.

Adjustable Feet

The keyboard features two-level adjustable feet, providing three inclination angles for ergonomic comfort.

Maintenance

Hot-Swappable Switches

The MT706 keyboard features a full-key hot-swap design, allowing you to easily replace key switches without soldering. This enables customization of your typing experience.

  1. Remove Keycap: Use the provided key puller to gently remove the desired keycap.
  2. Remove Switch: Use a switch puller (often integrated with the key puller) to carefully extract the switch from its socket.
  3. Insert New Switch: Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press down firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are not bent.
  4. Replace Keycap: Place the keycap back onto the new switch.

Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance and appearance, regularly clean your keyboard:

  • Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps.
  • For deeper cleaning, remove keycaps using the key puller and wipe them with a damp cloth. Ensure they are completely dry before reattaching.
  • Wipe the keyboard surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not connecting:
    • Ensure the correct connection mode (Wired, 2.4G, or Bluetooth) is selected using the side switch.
    • For 2.4G mode, verify the USB receiver is securely plugged into a working USB port.
    • For Bluetooth mode, ensure the keyboard is in pairing mode and discoverable by your device. Try re-pairing if issues persist.
    • Check if the keyboard battery is charged.
  • RGB lighting not working or inconsistent:
    • Press FN + T to toggle the backlight on/off.
    • Adjust brightness using FN + ↑ and FN + ↓.
    • Cycle through lighting effects with FN + Enter and colors with FN + \ |.
  • Keys not responding:
    • Check if the WIN key is locked by pressing FN + WIN-L.
    • If you have hot-swapped switches, ensure they are fully seated and their pins are not bent.
    • Try connecting the keyboard in wired mode to rule out wireless interference or battery issues.
  • Knob not functioning:
    • Ensure the keyboard is powered on and connected.
    • Check if any software or system settings are overriding the knob's functions.
