5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Unit Placement

  • Place the portable AC unit on a flat, stable surface.
  • Ensure there is at least 20 inches (50 cm) of clearance around the unit for proper airflow.
  • Avoid placing the unit in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

5.2 Window Kit Installation

The included window kit is designed for easy installation in most vertical and horizontal sliding windows. Follow these steps:

  1. Measure your window opening to ensure it falls within the suitable range of 17 to 53 inches (43 to 135 cm) for both height and width.
  2. Assemble the window slider kit according to your window's dimensions, extending or retracting the panels as needed.
  3. Secure the assembled window kit in the open window, ensuring a tight seal to prevent air leakage.
  4. Connect the exhaust hose(s) to the designated openings on the window kit and the back of the AC unit.

5.3 Dual-Hose System Connection

This unit features an efficient dual-hose system. Connect both the intake and exhaust hoses to the corresponding ports on the back of the unit and to the window kit. The dual-hose design draws fresh air from outside for cooling and exhausts hot air, preventing negative pressure and improving efficiency by up to 40% compared to single-hose units.

6. Operating Modes and Controls

Your portable air conditioner offers four versatile operating modes:

6.1 Cooling Mode

Provides powerful cooling for rooms up to 750 sq.ft. Set the desired temperature between 64℉ (18℃) and 90℉ (32℃). The unit will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.

6.2 Heating Mode

Provides warmth during colder periods. Set the desired temperature between 55℉ (13℃) and 81℉ (27℃). The unit will operate to reach and maintain the set temperature.

6.3 Dehumidifying Mode (Dry)

Removes excess moisture from the air, improving comfort and air quality. The unit can remove up to 78.5 pints (1.2 Liters) of moisture per day. In most settings, the auto-drain function will evaporate the condensate. For high humidity environments, continuous drainage may be required (see Maintenance section).

6.4 Fan Mode

Circulates air without cooling or heating. Choose between High and Low fan speeds. The unit provides an airflow of 450m³/h.

6.5 Sleep Mode

Designed for quiet operation during sleep, with a noise level under 42dB. This mode adjusts temperature and fan speed automatically to maintain comfort while minimizing disturbance.

6.6 Controls

The unit can be controlled via the intuitive touch panel on top of the unit or the included remote control.

  • Power Button: Turns the unit On/Off.
  • Mode Button: Cycles through Cooling, Heating, Dehumidifying, and Fan modes.
  • Temperature Up/Down Buttons: Adjusts the desired temperature.
  • Fan Speed Button: Selects High or Low fan speed (or Auto in some modes).
  • Timer Button: Activates the 24-hour programmable timer for delayed start or stop.
  • 'Follow Me' Function (Remote Control): Allows the remote control to act as a thermostat, sensing the temperature at its location and adjusting the unit's operation accordingly for more precise comfort.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your portable air conditioner.

7.1 Air Filter Cleaning

The unit features a slide-out washable air filter. It is recommended to clean the air filter every two weeks, or more frequently depending on usage and air quality.

  1. Turn off and unplug the unit.
  2. Locate and slide out the air filter from its housing.
  3. Wash the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinserting it into the unit.

7.2 Drainage

The unit has an auto-drain function that typically evaporates condensate. However, in high humidity conditions, the internal water tank may fill up. If the tank becomes full, the unit will stop operating and display an error code (refer to troubleshooting). In such cases, manual drainage or continuous drainage setup is required.

  • Manual Drainage: Place a shallow pan under the drain port at the bottom rear of the unit. Remove the drain plug to allow water to flow out. Replace the plug once drained.
  • Continuous Drainage: For continuous operation in humid environments, attach a drain hose (not included) to the continuous drain port and direct it to a floor drain or suitable container.

7.3 Exterior Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

8. Troubleshooting

Before contacting customer support, try these solutions for common issues:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Unit does not turn onNo power, power cord unplugged, circuit breaker tripped, internal water tank full.Ensure unit is plugged into a grounded outlet. Check circuit breaker. Drain internal water tank if full.
Unit not cooling/heating effectivelyWindows/doors open, air filter dirty, exhaust hose blocked/disconnected, room too large, temperature setting incorrect.Close all windows and doors. Clean air filter. Ensure exhaust hose is properly connected and unblocked. Verify temperature setting. Refer to BTU guide for room size suitability.
Unit is noisyUnit not on a level surface, fan obstruction, loose parts.Place unit on a flat, stable surface. Check for and remove any obstructions from fan blades.
Water leakageDrain plug loose, continuous drain hose improperly connected, internal water tank full.Ensure drain plug is securely in place. Check continuous drain hose connection. Drain internal water tank.
Remote control not workingBatteries dead, obstruction between remote and unit.Replace batteries. Remove any obstructions.

9. User Tips

  • Room Size Matters: The effectiveness of your AC unit is highly dependent on room occupancy, direct sunlight exposure, and insulation. For optimal performance, ensure the unit's BTU capacity matches your room size. Consult the guide below or a professional if unsure.
  • A guide on 'How to Choose' the right BTU for room size
Figure 9.1: BTU Cooling Capacity Guide based on ASHRAE standards.
  • Seal Your Space: Always ensure all windows and doors are closed tightly when operating the unit in cooling or heating mode to prevent air leakage and maximize efficiency.
  • Regular Filter Cleaning: Clean the air filter regularly (e.g., every two weeks) to maintain optimal airflow, cooling/heating efficiency, and indoor air quality. A dirty filter can significantly reduce performance.
  • Continuous Drainage for Dehumidifying: If using the dehumidifier function in a very humid environment, consider setting up continuous drainage to avoid frequent emptying of the internal water tank and ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • Optimize with 'Follow Me': Utilize the 'Follow Me' function with the remote control to ensure the unit maintains the desired temperature precisely where you are in the room.
