1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your TUYA 1080P Smart Video Intercom Access Control System. This multi-function standalone access control system features an ARM core 32-bit microprocessor design, ensuring powerful, stable, and reliable performance. It is suitable for various applications including offices, residential communities, villas, banks, and prisons.

The system supports multiple access methods including fingerprint, RFID card, password, and mobile application (Tuya App) remote unlocking, offering enhanced security and convenience.

Three models of the access control system: VF1, VF2, VF3, with Tuya and WiFi logos.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Wiring Diagram

Proper wiring is crucial for the correct functioning of the access control system. Refer to the diagram below for connection details. Ensure all connections are secure and insulated.

5.2 Physical Installation

Mount the access control unit securely to a wall or door frame at an appropriate height. Ensure the unit is protected from direct harsh weather conditions if installed outdoors. Connect the wiring harness to the unit and to your power supply control unit and electric lock according to the wiring diagram.

6. Operation

6.1 Mobile App Setup (Tuya App)

  1. Download Tuya App: Scan the QR code provided in the Tuya App Manual or search for "TuyaSmart" in your mobile app store (Android/iOS).
  2. Enable Phone Features: Before adding a device, ensure your phone's Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location services are turned on.
  3. Initiate Wi-Fi Pairing on Device: On the access control keypad, press * Master code # 08. The green light on the unit will flash, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  4. Add Device in App: Open the Tuya App, click "Add Device" or the "+" icon. The app will search for nearby devices.
  5. Enter Wi-Fi Information: Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password when prompted. Click "Next".
  6. Complete Pairing: The app will connect to the device. Once successfully added, click "Done".

6.2 Remote Unlock Setting

Within the Tuya App, navigate to the device settings and ensure the "Remote unlock" option is enabled. This allows you to unlock the door directly from your smartphone.

6.3 Video Surveillance and Intercom

The system allows you to view visitors and communicate with them via your mobile phone. When a visitor presses the doorbell key:

  1. Your phone will receive a notification.
  2. Open the app to see a live video feed of the visitor.
  3. You can toggle sound on/off, take pictures, record videos, and initiate two-way intercom.
  4. To unlock the door remotely, long press the unlock icon in the app.

6.4 User Management (Adding Fingerprints, Passwords, and Cards)

To add new users, navigate to "Member Management" in the Tuya App:

  • Adding Fingerprint: Select "Fingerprint" and follow the on-screen instructions. Place the same finger on the fingerprint recognition area of the door lock multiple times in succession until successfully added. Give the fingerprint a name (e.g., "Right Index Finger").
  • Adding Password: Select "Password". You can choose to generate a random 6-digit password or set a custom one. Enter a password name and save.
  • Adding Door Card (RFID): Select "Door Card". Place the RFID card in the induction area of the unit. The green light will flash twice, and you'll hear a long beep upon successful addition. Give the card a name.

6.5 Setting Temporary Passwords

The app allows you to set temporary passwords for guests or service personnel:

  • Navigate to "Temporary password" in the app.
  • Choose between "Limited time", "Single time", or "Custom" password types.
  • For "Limited time" or "Custom", set the effective and invalid times.
  • Enter a password name and click "Get Password" to generate or confirm.
  • Note: Custom guest passwords are typically valid for 6 hours and can only be used once.

6.6 Door Opening Record Query

To view a history of door openings, go to "Album/Log" in the app and select "door opening record". This log will show details of who unlocked the door and when.

6.7 Auto Lock Delay Time

You can configure the duration the door remains unlocked after a successful access. This setting can be adjusted in the device settings within the Tuya App.

6.8 Smart Linkage

Configure smart scenarios and notifications (e.g., receive a message when someone rings the doorbell) through the "Smart Linkage" section in the app. Options include Message Center, Message Notification, and Phone Notification.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the keypad and fingerprint sensor. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the surface.
  • Power Supply: Ensure a stable DC 12V power supply. Regularly check the battery percentage in the Tuya App if applicable to your setup.
  • Data Backup: Utilize the data backup function to safeguard user information and settings.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the Tuya App periodically for any available firmware updates for your device to ensure optimal performance and security.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device not pairing with Wi-Fi: Ensure your phone's Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location are enabled. Double-check the Wi-Fi password. Make sure the device is in pairing mode (green light flashing after * Master code # 08).
  • Fingerprint not recognized: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Try re-registering your fingerprint if issues persist.
  • RFID card not reading: Ensure the card is placed correctly in the induction area. Check if the card has been properly added to the system via the app.
  • Password not working: Verify the entered password is correct. Check if it's a temporary password that has expired or been used.
  • No video feed/intercom: Check your internet connection. Ensure the device has power. Verify app permissions for camera and microphone.
  • Door not unlocking: Check power supply to the electric lock. Ensure wiring is correct according to the diagram. Review door opening records in the app for any error messages.

9. User Tips

  • Regularly Check Battery: Monitor the battery status of your access control unit through the Tuya App to avoid unexpected power loss.
  • Clean Fingerprint Sensor: Keep the fingerprint recognition area clean and free from dirt or moisture for consistent and accurate scanning.
  • Utilize Temporary Passwords: For visitors or one-time access, use the temporary password feature instead of sharing permanent codes.
  • Review Access Logs: Periodically check the door opening records in the app to monitor access activity and enhance security awareness.
  • Secure Your Master Code: Keep your master code confidential and change it regularly to prevent unauthorized access to system settings.

10.1 Warranty Information

This product comes with a one-year warranty from the date of original purchase. The warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal use. It does not cover defects or damages caused by misuse, accidental damage, fire, unauthorized modifications, or improper installation by the buyer.
