5. Initial Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the battery pack upwards until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, press the battery release latch and slide the battery downwards.

5.2 Antenna Attachment

  1. Screw the SMA-Female antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight.
  2. Do not overtighten.

5.3 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the battery. The AR-869 offers multiple convenient charging options:

  • Using the Desktop Charger: Place the radio with the battery installed into the desktop charger. The indicator light on the charger will show charging status.
  • Using the Type-C Port: Connect a USB Type-C cable (not included with all versions) to the Type-C port on the side of the radio and to a compatible USB power source (e.g., car charger, power bank, laptop, or wall adapter).

The wall charger includes overcharge, overvoltage, and short circuit protection for excellent safety.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment

  1. To power on, rotate the Power/Vol knob clockwise until you hear a click.
  2. To power off, rotate the Power/Vol knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.
  3. Adjust the volume by rotating the Power/Vol knob.

6.2 Channel Selection

Rotate the Channel Switch on top of the radio to select your desired channel. The display will show the current channel number or frequency.

6.3 Transmitting and Receiving

  1. To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  2. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
  3. The indicator light will typically glow red during transmission and green during reception.

6.4 Bluetooth Programming (APP Operation)

The AR-869 supports wireless programming via a smartphone application, allowing for easy frequency and function settings.

  1. Download the APP:
    • For Apple (iOS) devices, search for "多段王" or "Quanzhou kediheng" in the Apple App Store.
    • For Android devices, scan the QR code provided in the product documentation or on the seller's page to download the APP.
  2. Connect via Bluetooth: Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone and within the radio's settings. Open the downloaded APP and follow the on-screen instructions to pair with your AR-869 radio.
  3. Program Settings: Once connected, you can adjust frequency settings, channel parameters, and other functions directly from the APP interface. The APP language will follow your mobile phone's system language.

6.5 GPS Function

The AR-869 includes GPS functionality to help with navigation and team coordination.

  • Access the visual positioning interface through the radio's menu.
  • You can switch between coordinate display mode and image mode to view your current location in real-time.
  • This feature helps prevent getting lost and makes it easier to find teammates.

7. Maintenance

7.1 General Care

  • Keep the radio dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.

  • Programming Convenience: Take advantage of the Bluetooth programming feature. It significantly simplifies frequency and function setup compared to manual programming.
  • GPS for Navigation: Use the GPS function to track your location and coordinate with others, especially in unfamiliar outdoor environments.
  • Versatile Charging: Always carry a USB Type-C cable and a power bank for convenient charging on the go, ensuring your radio stays powered during extended use.
