2. Safety Precautions

Please read carefully and ensure that you understand all instructions before installing and using this device.

  • Please stop using the dashcam and contact us at once if there are cracks on the surface or any other abnormalities on the device.
  • To ensure your safety, please do not operate the dashcam while you are driving.
  • Please use a soft cloth to gently wipe the dashcam if necessary. Chemicals should be avoided for cleaning.
  • Please do not expose to high temperature or direct sunlight for a long time.
  • Please do not remove the MicroSD card while recording.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install your XTRONS Car DVR Camera:

  1. Insert the MicroSD card into the card slot of the dashcam.
  2. Connect the USB cable of the dashcam to the USB port of the Android head unit.
  3. Find the DVR.apk of the dashcam from the FileBrowser of the Android head unit, and then click install.
  4. Turn on the app after installation.
  5. Place the dashcam under the rear view mirror. Watch videos taken by the dashcam on the Android head unit to find the best recording angle. Tear off the anti-adhesive paper of the device, and then paste it to the previously determined position. (Note: To stick firmly, please clean the windshield with a towel before pasting and wipe off any dirt or moisture.)
  6. Hide the USB cable and then the installation is done.

5. Operation

5.1. App Installation Instructions

For all DVR Series, the app installation process is similar:

  1. Plug the DVR camera into any USB port of the car stereo.
  2. Click the FileBrowser icon on your Android head unit to find the newly inserted USB disk. Navigate to the USB icon to locate the Car DVR.apk (or bdDvr.apk for Series Three) and install it.

5.2. Status Bar Indicators

  • Video Icon: Flashes at a rate of 1 flash per second while recording.
  • Microphone Icon: Indicates whether the sound recording feature is on or off.
  • TF Card Icon: Indicates whether the MicroSD card is inserted or removed.
  • Lock Icon: Indicates if the video is locked while recording.

5.3. Function Bar Buttons

  • Recording Button: Click to turn video recording on/off.
  • Capture Button: Click to take a picture. A prompt will appear on the screen if successful.
  • Sound Recording Button: Click to turn audio recording on/off.
  • System Settings Button: Click to check recorded videos & photos and adjust brightness.
  • Lock Button: Click to lock the video currently being recorded.
  • Exit Button: Exits the application.
  • Camera Switch Button: Click to switch between front and rear camera views (if applicable).
  • Home Button (Series Three): Click to return to the home screen.
  • PIP Button (Series Three): Click to switch to Picture-in-Picture mode.
  • Power Off Button (Series Three): Click to turn the device on/off.

5.4. Playback

Click the Playback icon to view recorded videos and photos.

Access settings by clicking the gear icon. Settings are categorized as follows:

Recording and Photo Settings

  • Resolution: Set video resolution (e.g., FHD1080P, 1440P).
  • Overturn: Enable/disable video overturn.
  • Video Interval: Set loop recording time (e.g., 1 min, 3 min, 5 min).
  • Mirror Image: Enable/disable mirror image for video.
  • ADAS Backplay: Requires app upgrade to use ADAS features.
  • Recording: Turn camera sound recording on/off.
  • Photo Tips Sound: Turn on/off sound for photo capture.
  • Video Duration: Set the length of each recorded video segment.

Device Settings

  • Sound Model: Select audio output mode (e.g., model 1, model 2, model 3, model 4).
  • Format: Format the MicroSD card. It is recommended to format the card upon first use. Warning: Formatting will erase all data on the card. Back up important files before proceeding.
  • Speed Unit: Set speed display unit (km/h or mph).

System Manager Settings

  • About Device: Check the current device version.
  • About App: Check for app updates. The Android head unit must be connected to the internet for updates.
  • Debug Info: View detailed debug information.

DVR Specific Settings

  • Record Duration: Set the length of each recorded video segment.
  • Audio Switch: Toggle audio recording on/off.
  • FrontFlip: Flip video footage horizontally (mirror image) or display in standard orientation.
  • GPS Watermark: Toggle to embed GPS data into video recording.
  • G-Sensor: Adjust collision detection sensitivity (High, Middle, Low) or disable impact-triggered recording.
  • Speed Unit: Choose units for speed display (km/h or mi/h).
  • FW Version: Displays firmware version.

ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System) Settings

  • ADAS Switch: Enable/disable all ADAS features.
  • Calibrate: Recalibrate ADAS sensors/cameras for accurate detection.
  • Lane Departure Warning: Alerts when the vehicle drifts out of its lane.
  • Forward Collision Warning: Warns of impending collisions.

  • Firmware/App Updates: Periodically check for and install available firmware and app updates to ensure your device has the latest features and bug fixes. Ensure your Android head unit is connected to the internet for updates.

7. Troubleshooting

No equipment can be found.

  • Please make sure the USB cable is connected properly. Unplug and reinsert the USB cable.
  • Please plug the USB cable into another USB port on the Android head unit and try again.

Recording has been disabled.

  • Please check whether the MicroSD card is inserted.
  • Please make sure that the MicroSD card is class 10 or above.
  • Please check the MicroSD card for damage. If it is damaged, please replace it with a new one and try again.
  • Please check that the storage space on the MicroSD card is sufficient.
