5. Setup
5.1. Battery Installation
The device requires 8 x 1.5V (LR6) Alkaline batteries. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the instrument, insert the batteries according to the polarity markings, and close the cover securely.
5.2. External Power Supply
The tester can also be powered by an external DC 12V power adapter. Connect the adapter to the DC 12V power adapter jack (9 in Figure 2) on the side of the instrument. This is useful for extended use without relying on batteries.

5.3. Connecting Test Leads
Connect the red and black test leads to the appropriate terminals on the tester. For insulation resistance measurements, typically the red lead connects to the LINE terminal (6) and the black lead to the EARTH terminal (3). The GUARD terminal (4) can be used for more precise measurements to eliminate surface leakage currents.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Power On/Off
Press the Power button (14 in Figure 2) to turn the instrument ON or OFF.
6.2. Selecting Test Voltage
Use the function selection keys (12 in Figure 2) to choose the desired test voltage (500V, 1000V, or 2500V for 60D+; 250V, 500V, or 1000V for 60B+). You can also select AC/DC voltage measurement mode using the V≡ key.

6.3. Performing an Insulation Resistance Test (One-Key Measurement)
This professional digital insulation tester features a simple one-key operation for stable and reliable measurements.
- Connect the test leads to the circuit or component you wish to test. Ensure proper connection to the LINE and EARTH terminals.
- Select the appropriate test voltage using the function selection keys.
- Press and hold the Measuring knob (2 in Figure 2) and turn it clockwise to lock it for continuous measurement. The red indicator light will illuminate, indicating the measurement is in progress.
- The insulation resistance value will be displayed on the screen. When the displayed value is stable, the measurement is complete.
- If the display shows "OL", it represents resistance over the range, indicating good insulation.

6.4. Automatic Discharge
The instrument features an automatic discharge function. After testing the insulation resistance of capacitive loads, the charged energy is automatically released, enhancing safety.

6.5. Data Hold and Backlight
Press the B/L HOLD button (13 in Figure 2) to freeze the current reading on the display. Press it again to release the hold. A long press of the B/L HOLD button will activate or deactivate the backlight for the HD large screen, making it easy to read in low-light conditions.

7. Maintenance
7.1. Cleaning
Wipe the instrument with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no moisture enters the device.
7.2. Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace all 8 x 1.5V (LR6) Alkaline batteries promptly to ensure accurate measurements and proper operation.
7.3. Storage
When not in use for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the instrument in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The recommended storage temperature is -20°C to 60°C with relative humidity below 90% (no condensation).
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Instrument does not power on | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries; No external power. | Check battery polarity and charge/replace batteries. Ensure external power adapter is correctly connected and functional. |
| "OL" displayed during measurement | Resistance is over the measurement range. | This indicates good insulation. No action needed unless expecting a lower resistance. |
| Inaccurate readings | Poor test lead connection; Environmental interference; Low battery. | Ensure test leads are securely connected. Avoid strong electromagnetic fields. Replace batteries if low. |
| Low battery indicator | Batteries are running low. | Replace all 8 x 1.5V (LR6) Alkaline batteries. |
9. User Tips
- For consistent results, always ensure the test leads are clean and free from damage.
- When testing motors or large capacitive loads, allow sufficient time for the automatic discharge function to complete before disconnecting leads.
- Utilize the backlight feature in dimly lit environments for better readability of the large screen.
- The hand rope can be useful for carrying the device securely during fieldwork.
