SCULPFUN Laser Engraver Lens Replacement and Maintenance Manual

For S30 / S30 Pro / S30 Pro Max / S30 Ultra 11W 22W 33W Laser Engraver Machines

Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the installation, maintenance, and safe handling of SCULPFUN replacement lenses for your laser engraver. Proper care and replacement of the laser lens are crucial for maintaining optimal laser performance and ensuring safety during operation. These lenses are designed for high transparency and are reinforced to resist oil and smoke contamination, ensuring minimal laser energy loss.

Warnings & Safety Information

  • Fire and Burn Hazard: High temperatures generated during processing may ignite the workpiece, smoke, or surrounding materials. The processing area must be kept clear of flammable substances and equipped with fire extinguishing equipment. After processing, the workpiece and machine components (e.g., spindle, laser head) may remain hot for an extended period; verify full cooling before handling.
  • Mechanical Injury Hazard: High-speed rotating spindles, moving gantries, belts, and lead screws pose serious risks of crushing, cutting, or entanglement injuries. Before performing any installation, commissioning, cleaning, or maintenance operation, disconnect the machine from the main power supply.
  • Electrical Hazard: High-voltage circuits are present internally. Unauthorized personnel must not open the electrical control cabinet. All electrical connections must comply with local regulations and be performed by qualified electricians.
  • Hazardous Substances and Fumes: Processing certain materials (e.g., plastics, composites, coated metals) may generate toxic, carcinogenic, or irritating fumes and dust. Use only in environments equipped with an effective Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) system.

Setup & Installation (Lens Replacement)

This section details how to replace or clean the laser lens. Always ensure the laser module is powered off and cooled before beginning.

Video Guide: How to Disassemble or Clean the Lens

Watch this video for a visual guide on lens disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Refer to the image below for a visual representation of each step.

Step-by-step guide for laser lens replacement and cleaning
  1. Disassemble Set Screws: Carefully remove the set screws holding the gas nozzle in place.
  2. Twist Gas Nozzle Vertically: Rotate the gas nozzle vertically to detach it.
  3. Twist Lens Shell with Wrench: Use an open wrench to twist and remove the lens shell.
  4. Remove Lens Shell Vertically: Gently pull the lens shell straight down.
  5. Knock Out Lens: Carefully tap the lens shell to dislodge the old lens.
  6. Clean Lens (or Replace): Use alcohol to clean the lens. If it is damaged, you need to replace it with a new one from the spare kit.
  7. Put Lens Level Back: Place the new or cleaned lens back into the shell, ensuring it is level.
  8. Twist Back to Lens Shell Vertically: Reattach the lens shell by twisting it back into its vertical position.
  9. Tighten with Wrench: Use the wrench to tighten the lens shell securely.
  10. Check Seal Ring Level: Ensure the sealing ring is properly seated and balanced.
  11. Twist Gas Nozzle Vertically (No Tightening): Reattach the gas nozzle vertically. No need to overtighten; twist until you feel the sealing ring, then continue to twist to align the bending tube correctly.
  12. Tighten Set Screws: Secure the gas nozzle by tightening the set screws.

Important: Ensure the lens is fitted at the bottom of the shell. Improper seating can cause the lens to break during installation or operation. Keep the laser module vertical during lens removal/installation to prevent the sealing ring from falling off or displacement.

Operating Procedures

These lenses are replacement parts for SCULPFUN laser engravers. Once installed, their operation is integrated with the laser engraver machine itself. Please refer to your specific SCULPFUN laser engraver's user manual for detailed operating instructions, including power settings, focusing, and material processing guidelines.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance of your laser lens is critical for optimal performance and longevity. Over time, the lens can become contaminated with oil and dust, reducing laser efficiency.

  • Cleaning Frequency: Clean the lens regularly, especially if you notice a decrease in laser power or engraving quality.
  • Cleaning Procedure: As shown in the installation video and image, carefully remove the lens. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and a small amount of alcohol to gently wipe the lens surface. The reinforced surface is designed to be anti-oil and anti-smoke, making it easy to clean.
  • Inspection: Always inspect the lens for any scratches, cracks, or permanent residue before reinstallation. If the lens is damaged, replace it immediately with a new one from your spare kit.
  • Storage: Store spare lenses in a clean, dry, and dust-free environment, preferably in their original protective packaging.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your laser engraver's performance, consider the following lens-related troubleshooting steps:

  • Reduced Laser Power/Weak Engraving: This is often a primary indicator of a dirty or damaged lens. Follow the cleaning procedure outlined in the Maintenance section. If cleaning does not resolve the issue, replace the lens.
  • Inconsistent Engraving/Cutting: A dirty or improperly seated lens can cause the laser beam to scatter or lose focus, leading to inconsistent results. Check the lens for cleanliness and ensure it is correctly installed and tightened.
  • Visible Damage to Lens: If you observe any scratches, cracks, or haziness on the lens, it must be replaced immediately to prevent further damage to the laser module and ensure optimal performance.

For persistent issues not resolved by lens maintenance, consult your SCULPFUN laser engraver's main user manual or contact SCULPFUN support.

User Tips

  • Lens Compatibility: Always ensure you are using the correct lens type and thickness for your specific SCULPFUN laser engraver model (e.g., S30, S30 Pro, S30 Ultra) and laser power (11W, 22W, 33W) to guarantee optimal performance and prevent damage.
  • Proper Seating: When installing a new lens, make sure it is fully seated at the bottom of the lens shell. This prevents breakage during tightening and ensures proper focus.
  • Vertical Handling: Keep the laser module vertical during lens removal and installation to prevent small components like sealing rings from falling out or becoming displaced.
  • Regular Cleaning: Proactive cleaning of the lens can significantly extend its lifespan and maintain consistent engraving quality. Don't wait for performance degradation to clean.
