1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the operation and maintenance of your Hantek DSO4000C/B Series Digital Oscilloscope. This series includes 4-channel digital oscilloscopes with bandwidths ranging from 80MHz to 250MHz, a 1GSa/s real-time sampling rate, and a 64Kpt record length. 'C' models feature an optional built-in signal generator. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper and safe operation.

4. Package Contents

The standard package includes the following items:

Optional accessories like high voltage probes (250M P4250-100X or 100M P4100-100X) are not included in the standard package and must be purchased separately if required.

6. Basic Operation

6.1. Powering On

Connect the provided power line to the instrument's power input on the rear panel. Press the recessed power button on the front panel to turn on the oscilloscope. Ensure the button is fully pressed to avoid incomplete power-up.

6.2. Language Settings

The oscilloscope software supports multiple languages. To change the language, navigate to the 'Utility' menu and select 'Language'.

6.3. Automatic Measurements

The device supports up to 32 types of automatic measurements and statistical functions, including real-time statistics such as minimum and maximum standard variance. These measurements can be accessed via the 'Measure' menu.

6.4. Cursor Measurements

The oscilloscope supports manual and tracking cursor measurements for precise analysis of waveforms.

6.5. Digital Voltmeter (DVM)

The built-in DVM allows for convenient measurement of DC RMS, AC RMS, and DC voltage values.

6.6. Automatic Range

The oscilloscope can quickly adjust the size of the signal on the screen for each wave change, simplifying setup.

7. Signal Generator Functionality (C Series Only)

The 4000C Series models are integrated with a built-in 25MHz adjustable signal generator. The oscilloscope and signal generator can be used simultaneously. It can output adjustable frequency square wave, positive basalt wave, triangular wave, noise wave, and other arbitrary waveforms.

You can also generate custom arbitrary waveforms by drawing them using the host computer software and loading them via a USB flash drive.

9. Decoding Functions

The device supports decoding for various serial bus protocols, including UART, LAN, CAN, SPI, and I2C. Decoding results are displayed through an event list.

10. Mathematical Functions

The oscilloscope provides mathematical functions to perform operations on waveforms from different channels. Supported operations include addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (*), and division (/). It also features a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) function to convert time-domain signals into frequency-domain signals for spectrum analysis.

11. Saving and Recall

Oscilloscope settings, waveforms, reference waveforms, and CSV files can be saved on an internal flash memory or an external USB storage device. Pictures of the display can also be saved to a USB storage device.

12. Connectivity

The oscilloscope supports communication with a computer via USB. Optional RS232 and LAN network communication interfaces are also available for advanced connectivity needs.

13. Probe Calibration

It is essential to calibrate all four probes after purchasing the oscilloscope. The device provides a calibration output with a 1kHz square wave signal for this purpose. Connect each probe to the calibration output and adjust it according to the on-screen instructions.

14. Power Supply and Plug Types

The oscilloscope operates on a power supply of 110-250 volts standard voltage. It does not feature a variable voltage function. Ensure you use the correct power plug type for your region.

  • AU: Used in China, Australia, New Zealand, and Argentina. Characterized by 3 flat heads.
  • US: Used in the United States, Canada, Japan, Brazil, the Philippines, Thailand, and other countries. Characterized by 1 round and two flat heads.
  • UK: Used in China Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Maldives, Qatar, and other countries and regions. Characterized by 3 square heads.
  • EU: Used in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Spain, Sweden, and other EU countries and South Korea. Characterized by two round heads.

15. User Tips

  • The power button is recessed; ensure a firm press, possibly with a fingernail, to fully engage it and avoid incomplete power-up.
  • The synchronization knob is relatively small compared to other controls. Take care when adjusting it for precise synchronization.
  • While the device offers multiple languages, Russian may not be available in all firmware versions. Familiarity with English or other supported languages is recommended for full functionality.

16. Maintenance

  • Keep the oscilloscope clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not attempt to open the casing or perform repairs yourself due to hazardous internal voltages. Refer to qualified personnel for servicing.

17. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check the power cable connection and ensure the power button is fully pressed. Verify the power outlet is functional.
  • No Waveform Display: Ensure probes are correctly connected to the input channels and the signal source. Check channel settings (e.g., voltage/division, coupling). Adjust the trigger settings if the waveform is unstable.
  • Incorrect Measurements: Perform probe calibration as described in Section 13. Verify the measurement settings and ensure the correct channel is selected.
  • Software Issues: If experiencing issues with host computer software, ensure all necessary drivers and libraries are installed. Refer to the official Hantek website for the latest software and support.
