1. Introduction

The Bakon BK946 series thermostatic heating platform is a versatile preheating station designed for various industrial and laboratory applications. It features intelligent PID temperature control, a pure aluminum heating panel for efficient and even heat distribution, and a digital display for precise temperature monitoring. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your heating platform.

2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety warnings before operating the device. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • BEWARE OF BURNS: The heating surface can reach very high temperatures. Avoid direct contact with the heating plate during operation and cool-down.
  • Always ensure the device is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Do not operate the device in damp or wet conditions.
  • Ensure proper ventilation to allow for heat dissipation.
  • Do not attempt to modify or repair the device yourself. Contact qualified personnel for service.
  • Disconnect power before cleaning or maintenance.

3. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the heating platform from its packaging. Inspect for any damage during transit.
  2. Placement: Place the unit on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant workbench. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for ventilation.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the device's power inlet and then to a grounded AC220V power outlet. The unit is equipped with an overload protection fuse.
  4. Initial Check: Before powering on, ensure all connections are secure and there are no foreign objects on the heating plate.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Flip the main power switch to the 'ON' position. The digital display will illuminate.
  2. Temperature Setting:
    • The device uses a three-in-one digital display for temperature control.
    • Press the 'SET' button to enter temperature setting mode.
    • Use the 'Up' and 'Down' arrow buttons to adjust the desired temperature.
    • Press 'SET' again to confirm the temperature. The platform will begin heating to the set temperature.
  3. Heating Process: The platform will rapidly heat up to the set temperature. The PID intelligent control system will maintain a constant temperature with high stability (typically ±2°C).
  4. Cool Down: After use, turn off the main power switch. Allow the platform to cool down naturally. Do not touch the heating surface until it has reached a safe temperature. The unit features rapid heat dissipation to aid in cooling.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Ensure the device is powered off and completely cooled before cleaning. Wipe the pure aluminum heating panel and exterior surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Regularly check that the heat dissipation vents are clear of dust and debris to ensure efficient cooling.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the device in a dry, dust-free environment.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on:
    • Check if the power cord is securely connected.
    • Ensure the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
    • Verify the power outlet is functional.
    • Check the overload protection fuse (refer to Figure 4). If blown, replace with a fuse of the same rating.
  • Temperature not reaching set value or unstable:
    • Ensure the ambient temperature is within the operating range.
    • Verify that the temperature setting is correct.
    • Check for any obstructions to heat dissipation.
    • If the issue persists, contact customer support.
  • Unusual noises or smells:
    • Immediately power off the device and disconnect it from the power source.
    • Do not attempt to operate the device. Contact customer support.
