4. Setup and Initial Operation

4.1. Initial Connections

  1. Connect the AC power supply to the PH-803W controller. Ensure the correct voltage (110V or 220V) is used for your region.
  2. Connect the PH electrode and ORP electrode into their respective input terminal sockets on the controller.

4.2. Electrode Preparation

  1. Remove the protective caps from both electrodes. Inspect them to ensure they are clean and intact. Note: Avoid touching the electrodes with your bare hands.
  2. Clean the electrodes with distilled water or alcohol. Gently dry the plastic housing and shake off any small droplets from the electrodes.
  3. Immerse the measuring electrodes into the solution to be tested. Ensure the electrodes are fully immersed but do not exceed their full length.
  4. Gently shake the device to dislodge any small air bubbles that may be clinging to the electrodes.
  5. Allow the electrodes to stabilize in the solution until a stable display number is read.
  6. After use, switch off the power supply, clean the electrodes with clean water, and replace the protective caps.
  7. For long-term use, ensure the device and electrodes are securely fixed in place.

It is crucial to follow a strict calibration sequence: first with pH 6.86 solution, then with pH 4.00 solution. Always clean the electrodes before each calibration.

5.1. pH Calibration

5.1.1. pH 6.86 Calibration

  1. Connect the AC power supply.
  2. Immerse the pH electrode in a pH 6.86 buffer solution. Gently shake it until the reading stabilizes.
  3. Long press the ▲ (6.86 CAL) button until the "pH" indicator light flashes and "PH6.86" is displayed on the first line.
  4. If calibration is not performed, short press the ESC/WIFI button to exit and return to measurement mode.
  5. To complete calibration, short press the OK button when the second line reading is stable. The device will automatically return to measurement mode.

5.1.2. pH 4.00 Calibration

  1. Connect the AC power supply.
  2. Immerse the pH electrode in a pH 4.00 buffer solution. Gently shake it until the reading stabilizes.
  3. Long press the ▼ (4.00 CAL) button until the "pH" indicator light flashes and "PH4.00" is displayed on the first line.
  4. If calibration is not performed, short press the ESC/WIFI button to exit and return to measurement mode.
  5. To complete calibration, short press the OK button when the second line reading is stable. The device will automatically return to measurement mode.

5.2. ORP Calibration

This meter is accurately pre-calibrated for the mV range at the factory. User calibration for ORP is generally not required.

6. Setting Upper and Lower Limits

This device allows for independent control of pH and ORP values by switching the power socket box on and off based on set limits.

  1. Enter Setting Mode: Long press the ◄ (SET) button until the pH, mV, and WiFi indicators disappear from the LED display.
  2. Modify Digits: Use the ▲ (6.86 CAL) or ▼ (4.00 CAL) buttons to modify the ten-digit of the pH value. After modification, short press the ► (VIEW) button, and the unit digit of the pH value will flash. Use ▲ (6.86 CAL) or ▼ (4.00 CAL) to modify the unit digit. Repeat for other digits as needed.
  3. Select Control Function: After modifying the pH value, short press the ▲ (6.86 CAL) button to select between upper limit control, lower limit control, or blank (no control). Use ▲ (6.86 CAL) or ▼ (4.00 CAL) to cycle through these options.
  • Upper Limit Control (▲): If the measured solution value is higher than the set value, the pH plug of the power socket box is energized, and connected equipment starts working. If lower, the plug is powered off, and equipment stops.
  • Lower Limit Control (▼): If the measured solution value is lower than the set value, the pH plug of the power socket box is energized, and connected equipment starts working. If higher, the plug is powered off, and equipment stops.

8. Maintenance

  • Environment: Ensure the instrument is located in a dry environment and that all connections between the instrument and electrodes are dry.
  • Electromagnetic Interference: The product is sensitive to electromagnetic waves. Avoid operating high-power appliances near the instrument when it is in use.
  • Electrode Signal Lines: Ensure electrode signal lines are not disturbed by external magnetic fields or tangled/overlapped with other appliance wires, as this can affect test results.
  • Electrode Cleaning: If the water being tested is cloudy, the electrodes should be cleaned with alcohol approximately once every half month.
  • Electrode Immersion: Do not immerse the electrodes in water for prolonged periods, as this will shorten their lifespan.
  • Electrode Lifespan: The electrodes have a service life of approximately one year and should be replaced regularly for accurate readings.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Network Setup Failure: If the initial WiFi network setup fails, check the status of your indoor network. Try changing the router or restarting it, then attempt the connection again.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure electrodes are clean and properly calibrated. Verify that the electrodes are fully immersed in the solution and free of air bubbles. Check for any electromagnetic interference from nearby appliances.
  • Device Not Responding: Verify the power supply is correctly connected and the correct voltage is being used. Ensure all electrodes are securely plugged in.

10. User Tips

  • Calibration Solutions: The PH-803W does not typically come with pH calibration solutions. These will need to be purchased separately to perform accurate pH calibration.
  • WiFi Connection: Connecting the device to WiFi and the mobile app can sometimes be challenging. Carefully follow all steps in the "Networking Configuration and App Use" section, paying close attention to the timing of button presses and app prompts. Ensure your phone and the device are on the same 2.4GHz WiFi network (5GHz networks are not supported).
