9. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. For the scanning window, use a lint-free cloth and a mild glass cleaner if necessary. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: If the scanner will not be used for an extended period, remove the AA batteries to prevent leakage.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
10. Troubleshooting
- Scanner not connecting wirelessly: Ensure the 2.4G USB dongle is securely plugged into your computer. Check if the scanner's battery is charged or properly installed. Try restarting both the scanner and your computer.
- No data transmitted to computer: Verify the scanner is in the correct operating mode (Wireless, Collect, or Inventory) for your intended use. If using Collect or Inventory mode, ensure you have initiated the data export function. Check USB cable connection for wired export.
- Unable to scan certain barcodes: Ensure the barcode is clean, undamaged, and within the scanner's reading range. Check if the barcode type is supported by the EY-7000 (refer to Section 6.1). Adjust scanning angle or distance.
- Screen is blank or unresponsive: Check battery level. If batteries are low, replace them or recharge if using rechargeable types. If the issue persists, try a soft reset by removing and reinserting the batteries.
11. User Tips
- For optimal wireless performance, ensure a clear line of sight between the scanner and the USB dongle, especially in environments with many obstacles.
- Regularly export data from the scanner's memory to prevent data loss and manage storage efficiently.
- Familiarize yourself with the different operating modes to maximize the scanner's utility for various tasks like inventory counting or direct scanning.
- Utilize the custom settings to add prefixes or suffixes to your scanned data, which can streamline data entry into specific software applications.
