5. Operation
5.1 Wearing the Scanner
The scanner features a wearable ring design with a 330° rotation head, allowing for comfortable left or right-hand operation. This design frees up your hands for other tasks, enhancing operational efficiency.

5.2 Scanning Barcodes
The EY-038 and EY-038P models support 1D and 2D barcodes (QR, Data Matrix, PDF417, etc.) on both paper and screens. The EY-038L model specializes in 1D laser scanning, offering enhanced performance for hard-to-read, damaged, reflective, or high-density 1D codes. Note that some 1D barcodes may be disabled by default and require activation via the scanner's menu.

5.3 Scanning Modes
The scanner offers three distinct scanning modes:
- Key Trigger Mode: Press the scan button to initiate a scan.
- Auto-sensing Mode: The scanner automatically reads a barcode when it detects one in its field of view, without needing to press the button.
- Continuous Mode: The scanner continuously scans, reading any barcode that passes through its beam.
You can switch between these modes via the LCD display menu.
5.4 Upload Modes
Choose how your scanned data is transferred to your device:
- Instant Upload Mode: Data is synchronously uploaded to your connected device immediately after scanning.
- Storage Mode: Barcode data is stored in the scanner's internal 16MB memory (up to 80,000 barcodes). You can scan and store barcodes when out of range and upload them later when connected.
These modes can be selected through the scanner's LCD menu.

5.5 Customizing Scanned Data (Prefix/Suffix)
The scanner allows you to add custom prefixes or suffixes, including date and time stamps, to your scanned barcode data. This feature is useful for tracking and data organization.
- Date & Time Prefix: Adds the current date and time before the barcode data.
- Date & Time Suffix: Adds the current date and time after the barcode data.
- Custom Prefix/Suffix: Add specific characters or strings.
- Keyboard Keys: Add special keys like TAB, CR&LF (Carriage Return & Line Feed) for data formatting.
These settings can be configured directly through the LCD display menu.

5.6 Sound and Vibration Settings
You can adjust the scanner's feedback settings (sound and vibration) via the LCD menu to suit your working environment.

7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Scanner not turning on | Low battery; Device malfunction | Charge the scanner for at least 2 hours. If still not working, contact support. |
| Cannot connect via Bluetooth/2.4G | Incorrect mode selected; Device not in pairing mode; Interference; Out of range | Ensure correct connection mode is selected on scanner. Put scanner in pairing mode. Move closer to host device. Check for other wireless devices causing interference. |
| Scanner not reading barcodes | Barcode type disabled; Poor barcode quality; Scanner window dirty; Incorrect scanning mode | Ensure the barcode type is enabled (especially for 1D laser scanner, some codes might be disabled by default). Clean the scanning window. Try different scanning modes. |
| Scanned data incorrect or missing characters | Keyboard layout mismatch; Prefix/suffix settings incorrect | Check your host device's keyboard layout. Review prefix/suffix settings on the scanner's LCD menu. |
8. User Tips
