Setup

1. Attaching the Brush Head

  1. Align the brush head with the metal shaft on the toothbrush handle.
  2. Push the brush head down onto the shaft until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely attached.

2. Charging the Toothbrush

Before first use, charge your toothbrush for at least 24 hours. The toothbrush is designed to be charged on its charging base.

  1. Plug the USB charging cable into a compatible USB power adapter (not always included) or a USB port.
  2. Connect the USB cable to the charging base.
  3. Place the toothbrush handle onto the charging base. The charging indicator light will illuminate to show that it is charging.

A full charge provides approximately 2 weeks of regular use (based on two 2-minute brushing sessions per day).

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off and Mode Selection

The Philips Sonicare HX2431 features two cleaning modes: 'Clean' and 'Sensitive'.

  1. To Turn On: Press the power button once. The toothbrush will start in the last used mode.
  2. To Change Mode: While the toothbrush is on, press the power button repeatedly to cycle through the 'Clean' and 'Sensitive' modes. The corresponding indicator light will illuminate.
  3. To Turn Off: Press and hold the power button for a few seconds, or cycle through all modes until the toothbrush turns off.

2. Brushing Technique

For optimal results, follow these guidelines:

  1. Wet the bristles and apply a small amount of toothpaste.
  2. Place the brush head against your teeth at a slight angle towards the gum line.
  3. Turn on the toothbrush.
  4. Gently move the brush head slowly across each tooth, allowing the sonic vibrations to do the work. Do not scrub.
  5. Brush all four quadrants of your mouth for 30 seconds each, for a total of 2 minutes. The built-in timer will guide you.
  6. After brushing, rinse your mouth and the brush head thoroughly.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Brush Head

  1. After each use, rinse the brush head thoroughly under running water while the handle is still on.
  2. Turn off the handle and remove the brush head.
  3. Rinse the brush head and the metal shaft area of the handle separately under running water.
  4. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth.

2. Cleaning the Handle and Charging Base

  • Wipe the entire surface of the handle and charging base with a damp cloth regularly.
  • Do not immerse the charging base in water. The toothbrush handle is IPX7 waterproof, meaning it can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

3. Replacing the Brush Head

For optimal hygiene and performance, replace your brush head every 3 months, or sooner if the bristles become splayed or worn.

Troubleshooting
