Setup & Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of your STONKAM camera system. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified technician.

1. Camera Placement

Mount the cameras strategically around the vehicle to achieve a full 360-degree view. Typically, cameras are placed on the front, rear, and sides (left and right) of the vehicle. Ensure cameras are securely fastened and have an unobstructed view. The system is compliant with UN ECE R151+R159, R158 Regulations for blind spot elimination.

2. Monitor Installation

Install the monitor in a location that provides the driver with a clear and unobstructed view of the display without impeding driving. Secure the monitor using the provided mounting brackets.

3. Control Box Wiring

Connect the cameras to the main control box using the provided video cables. Connect the control box to the vehicle's power supply (10-32V) and ground. Connect the monitor to the control box for video output. Ensure all trigger inputs (backward, left, right, and extended triggers) are connected to the appropriate vehicle signals for automatic view switching.

4. System Calibration

After physical installation, the system requires calibration to stitch the camera feeds into a seamless 360-degree bird's eye view. This system features a 'One-minute calibration' process:

  1. Place the provided calibration mats (4 or 6, depending on system configuration) randomly around the vehicle as instructed by the on-screen guide.
  2. Access the calibration menu on the monitor, either via touch screen or remote control.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to initiate and complete the automatic calibration process.

Operation

1. Power On/Off

The system will typically power on automatically with the vehicle's ignition. To manually power on/off or adjust settings, use the buttons on the monitor or the remote control.

2. Viewing Modes

The system supports multiple viewing modes, including a 360-degree panoramic bird's eye view. You can switch between 3D and 2D views freely to suit different driving conditions and preferences. The system also supports split-screen displays.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Regularly clean camera lenses with a soft, damp cloth to ensure clear vision. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Wipe down the monitor screen with a microfiber cloth.
  • Ensure the control box and connections are free from dust and debris.

System Checks

  • Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or damage.
  • Ensure cameras are securely mounted and their angles have not shifted.
  • Verify system functionality regularly, especially before long journeys.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your STONKAM camera system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No image on monitor: Check power connections to the control box and monitor. Ensure video cables from cameras to the control box are securely connected. Verify the monitor input source is correctly selected.
  • Distorted or unclear image: Clean camera lenses. Check for damaged video cables. Re-calibrate the system if the 360-degree view appears misaligned.
  • ADAS features not working: Ensure cameras are clean and properly aligned. Verify that the system has been calibrated correctly. Check system settings to ensure ADAS features are enabled.
  • System not powering on: Check the vehicle's power supply and fuse for the system. Ensure the main power cable to the control box is connected.

For persistent issues, please contact STONKAM customer support.

User Tips

  • Regular Calibration: While the system offers one-minute calibration, performing it periodically or after any significant impact or camera adjustment can maintain optimal accuracy for the 360-degree view and ADAS features.
  • Cleanliness is Key: Keep camera lenses and the monitor screen clean. Dirt, dust, or water droplets can significantly impair image quality and the effectiveness of detection features.
  • Understand Alerts: Familiarize yourself with the different types of alerts (visual and auditory) provided by the ADAS and DMS features so you can react appropriately and promptly.
